Konami has renewed the trademark for its cult-classic Suikoden JRPG franchise, fueling speculation that the publisher's teased new title in a "world-loved series" could be the next entry set in that universe.
That, along with the fact that Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji will be in attendance, gives the matter credence. Kaji voiced Suikoden protagonist Jowy in Suikoden 2, and other characters in Suikoden Tierkreis and Genso Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century. A description for the Konami, which takes place on 16th September and will run for 45 minutes, reads as follows:
“Voice actor Yuji Kaji will be invited as a guest to represent the fans of a series which is loved all over the world, on the announcement stage for a new Konami title.”
The trademark was filed back in June, but uncovered by Segment Next, which in turn was posted on Reddit and circulated on the popular gaming forum ResetEra. While trademarks alone are no indication, the combination of Kaji's involvement and Konami's description makes us think this one has some substance.

Only waited a lifetime for new entry. Loved 4 and 5
I’m going to set my expectations to overwhelming sadness to avoid being disappointed when it turns out to be a nft based mobile title only releasing in North Korea and Transnistria.
God new suikoden news is always good.
Lets hope for a 1 to 5 remaster compilation.
But we all know it will be pachinko.
Been wishing Suikoden 1 & 2 would get a compilation on the PS Classics range,(if not the entire series),but given Playstation's cheapskate efforts on Deluxe/Premium content thus far it'd be nice to see the old games playable again on current gens.
But yep, this is Konami so expectations are firmly set in check!🤔
Disappointment for me, I was hoping for one of the classics like MGS or Silent Hill.
never played a Suikoden game back in the day...but nowadays, the more JRPGs, the better!
I always thought the whole feature with 108 chars was kinda wasted, since you only actually use about 6 of them. But it was nonetheless a fun series I'd probably play again if they do something cool with it.
Suikoden V rekindled my love of JRPGs during the PS3 era when I thought the genre had gone stale. Very special game to me. Even if this announcement is just an HD collection, I'll be happy
Crossing my fingers for a collection!
I definitely wanna try another Suikoden game.
@tabris95 I would love that its cheaper to do and it wont take FF7R amounts of times. I think the game took as long as to be released as when its finished.
@Flaming_Kaiser Even if the announcement is disappointing, there's still Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes coming out hopefully next year!
Big fan of Suikoden!
If I can put a new Suikoden next to Arm Fantasia on my wait list I will be an extremely happy gamer!
I hope they release Suikoden 2 on PS Plus Premium, that way I will be able to download it for free since I bought it on Ps3 back then.
Have both games on my Vita. 2 was one of my favourite games ever as a child. Loved the expansive cast of characters
@IndoorEnthusiast bruh, North Korea banned video games did they not?
$10 says it's a Suikoden 2 remaster. I'd still be happy with it considering it's one of the greatest JRPGs of all time.
I played a bit of the first Suikoden. It was cute but I don't think the localization was all that great. I also wanted to try Suikoden II but as everyone knows it's super expensive on disc.
Love Suikoden. Dread to think what Konami are about to do to it.
Well I was disappointed when the compilation on 1 and 2 was only realeased in Japan for psp so it would be nice to see that on switch
Keeping my expectations in check for now...
As if they would just let the Suikoden trademark expire because there isn't a new game...
It's funny to still see the same pachinko joke when about 80% of Konami's revenue is from console games.
I am a fan of Suikoden, but i am not a fan of Konami.
I buried this hope long ago. I don't want to bring it back. I hope it's nothing.
A remaster is fine, but the development team behind what made Suikoden great is now working on Hundred Heroes. Sorry Konami your ship has sailed to take advantage of this incredible ip. I have no faith that they can and will create something new.
Jowy had a voice actor? Don't remember that and I played through it a few months ago. He's also not the protagonist. Did someone who didn't play the game write this article?
@ILikeStake pretty sure it's three people from the old team plus a guy from castlevania. It's definitely not the development team.
