The preordained date has finally arrived, The Last of Us: Part I is out in the wild, and developer Naughty Dog has released a trailer detailing the game's violent, visceral combat.
The Last of Us: Part II featured a dodge mechanic which has not been backported, and game director Matthew Gallant explains that it would have changed the entire feel of the game when faithfulness to the original was the goal. We also learn more about the game's AI coordinator, and how encounters can play out differently, depending on how you approach them.

Did I buy it and play it ps3? Yes. Did I buy it and play it again on ps4? Yes. Will I buy it and play it again on ps5? Yes. It's still one of the most brilliantly crafted single player experiences of the past decade that doesn't outstay its welcome.
Say what you want about how you value the game, but it’s been so refreshing that most of the gameplay trailers for this are so intertwined with developer commentary. I’ll always appreciate even little things that get us closer to the development perspective.
i so want this game on pc to. cant wait to get stuck back in to this game start off in hard mode then dail up the difficulty and plank it on ez mode after all that lol ,im waiting on the disc to arrive from amazon. no digital nonsense for this type of game.
I played 2 hours of the game this morning and it's stunning. What ND did with the game, the depth of the graphical enhancements. I'm speechless. I'm taking my sweet time with it, too. Wandering around every location, just gawking at the beauty of it.
Nah, not worth £70
Im happy with my purchase, but now we need a part 2 remaster...
@gollumb82 this is pretty much me. One of very few games where I just stop almost every few meters just to look at the meticulously crafted world they created. Every single item feels like it has been placed there by the devs manually, makes the world so believable and realistic. The environmental storytelling is insane. From Software are masters at that too but you need to be into the lore to fully appreciate it, this is different here. "Perfection is a lot of little things done well" and it is here in spades. I don't care what anyone says. From a pure craftsmanship perspective, Naughty Dog can't be touched imo. I don't want to defend Sony's pricing decision and I won't. Yes, it should have been cheaper. That said, personally, I don't regret paying it at all. I'm having such a blast and I will most likely go for a 2nd playthrough and get that platinum.
@dschons
Haha. You too? Agree 100%. Naughty Dog are in a league of their own as far as crafting believable worlds and characters is concerned. Their games are the reason why I buy Playstation consoles. Also, I'm pretending to be a Digital Foundry guy while playing. Trying to spot all the little and big things that make this remake so great. Having a blast doing this, too.
I'm looking forward to playing this game again on ps5 when I eventually get one lol. Sony been sending me invitations to buy one but I want to hold out a bit longer and get through some of my backlog. Also I don't like the look of the ps5 to be honest and as someone with OCD it is quite a big deal for me how things look, but I would get used to it eventually
As for the prone thing, I sopose it makes sense really not to have it. Joel is the main character you control and he is quite old in the game, well much older than Ellie in past 2 anyway lol. For the few parts we play as Ellie she is still young so will have developed that skill as he got a bit older 🤔 😂
