PS5 boffin Mark Cerny isn't only the genius lead architect of the console, he also happens to be pretty skilled at video games. The man has been sharing his spoils on social media, tweeting about each of his Platinum Trophy triumphs as they happen. Cerny's Trophy cabinet is impressive, with Plats for the likes of Cuphead, Returnal, Deathloop, Demon's Souls, and more. He can be very proud of his latest effort, though: the addictive rogue-like deck builder, Slay the Spire:
Though the game has a simple art style and easy-to-learn mechanics, it's surprisingly flexible and deep, and the Trophy list reflects the broad range of approaches you can take. This author has put in dozens of hours with the game and only has about a third of the digital trinkets. Cerny has cleared up all 44, including the super rare Platinum; just 0.3 per cent of players have it.
If you're interested in checking the game out, Slay the Spire was part of the PS Plus Essential lineup back in April, so it's possible the game is waiting in your library. We'd certainly encourage you to give it a try.

Not even close to the platinum. Relies way too much on RNG to be worth attempting.
I want to take Cerny to Vegas and give him my money to play blackjack with.
Congrats mark! π
Mark the Hacker 100%
I can not explain how hard it is to beat Slay the Spire at Ascension 20 difficulty, took me about 80 attempts....
@nessisonett
Exactly this. Incredibly fun game though, until itβs not.
See, this is why I've never shared my profile with anyone at work; they'll see the gargantuan amount of Trophies I've unlocked during working hours - often even during video calls where I was supposedly paying attention. Can't have that.
@Golem25 there are worse ways to get caught out on a video call from what I've seen shared in my WhatsApp App groups π³π
Nice... Hope Sony also give him one hell of a Bonus for his bank collection π
"Genius" is exactly right. Love if he could freelance at Valve for a bit also. Spread the hardware magic.
Jesus, I've played 120-odd hours of StS and am not even close to getting every achievement/trophy
@Golem25 This is why we need to get away from hours based working patterns and onto productivity based ones. People will become more efficient.
Nice, I'm getting there personally, even got the ascension 20 one (god bless perfected strike).
I've sunk 160 hours into this game and just have the Acsension trophies to go. If I was stuck on a desert island and allowed access to just one game, it would be this. Brilliant. Highly recommend rand118 on YouTube and Twitch for his StS commentary and videos.
I like that mark also plat both knack games which he created, not a lot of Devs can do that for their own game ππ
Guy has good taste when it comes to what he wants to platinum.
@ramklov1993 The game relies almost entirely on luck in several different aspects. Anybody whoβs played it will agree. You can only be so βskilfulβ at a game which draws cards, rooms, enemies, literally everything based on a random algorithm.
@nessisonett knowledge of how to play the cards you get is a pretty big deal. Some of the best slay the spire players have crazy high success rates.
@nessisonett I agree that at some point you reach a point where luck determines wheter or not you win a run. As someone who has a lot of hours in this game and who can clear A20 on a regular basis, im not even close to the point where luck is the most important factor that determines if i win or not. Probably not even the best players in the world (like baalorlord) have reached that point. Sure you have runs where you have more luck than other runs and yeah you die a lot because of bad card placements in draw piles.
The main point im trying to make here, is that as someone who cleared A20 regularly on pc and then went for the platinum, it wasn't that much of a struggle.
Sure RNG plays a part in this game, but saying the game is too RNG heavy when you are not even close to the platinum is, kind of not appreciating the choices that you make during the game, because i find that those matter way more than being lucky.
