Just when you thought that Team Ninja was going all-in on Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, it unveils Rise of the Ronin — a 1863 Japan action game that looks pretty darn cool. It's aiming for a 2024 release, and it's going to be a PS5 console exclusive.
Comparisons to Ghost of Tsushima will obviously be made, especially since this is also going to be an open world title. At one point in the above trailer, we see the player character leap from a building's rooftop and open up a set of wings in order to soar over the town below, which is something we bet that Jin wishes he could do. The game's being described as "an immersive combat focused action experience". What else would you expect from Team Ninja?

Looks good and if it's anything like GoT I'll def get it. Really need some news on GoT 2 though.
Highlight of the show for me! Looked great
I'm looking forward to finally leaving last gen behind and not catering to last gen
As if an AC based Japan game wasn't enough and now we have this, as well as Like a Dragon Ishin. Definitely going to look forward to this. More feudal Japan based games for me to play.
i know everyone will say GoT......AC red or whatever it called is a 24 release to..... poor ubisoft
Definitely the one that had me most excited. The way he jumped off the ledge and used the glider was pretty damn cool. And the combat looks insane. Too bad we gotta wait till 2024 and that's assuming it doesn't get delayed or something
Feudal Japan is the new craze I see.
Seriously though this looks epic, no need for a ghost of tsushima 2 until 2026 at least
Hi there fellow gamers.
So now is Team Ninja´s version of a open world samurai game?
This was THE BEST reveal for me, hands down!
First it was Ghots of Tsushima and now were getting Like a Dragon: Ishin and Rise of the Ronin.....
The devs are finally hearing my prayers for the type of game I´ve always wanted to play.
And let´s not forget Assassin´s Creed Code Red as well.
2024 is shaping up to be my favourite year.
Open World Feudal Japan Ninja and Samurai games.
I Love videogames so much.
Cheers, stay safe everyone and happy gaming to us all
Am I dreaming or after Ghost of Tsushima everyone seem to realize samurai culture exists??
It's like the flood gates were open after years of drought
I'll pre order this...
Again this AND Wo Long Team Ninja are good to us ^__^
Yes please this looks amazing
so...when I see Team Ninja, nowadays I think of the action being a souls-like, or in this case, Nioh-ish.
so, do we know if it'll be like Nioh in terms of combat or something else entirely?
Probably the highlight of the show for me. Curious for more.
Day 1. They can charge me $70 for it. Take my money.
@Keyblade-Dan word, this studio is doing god's work 🥺😭
By the way, this is helmed by Nioh 2's director, so it may be another "nioh-like".
Also, it's set during the Bakumatsu period, thank jeebus, enough with the Sengoku games.
This looked amazing. You know the vibes it gives off, expect greatness from this.
@Cherip-the-Ripper They really are 😅
Seems like the glider is the new grappling hook that devs slap into every game these days.
Team ninja have become one of my favorite publishers right now.im playing nioh 2 right now with all the dlcs.and its amazing.one of the greatest games ever.wo long fallen dynasty is another hit coming soon.and rise of the ronin looks amazing.good job team ninja. Word up son
It’s kinda funny how so many games follow a pattern. Soon there will be plenty of space games and samurai games available.
Well, if they can make this as good as Gaiden I'm all in.
Looks pretty good, want to hear more on this one.
This is a definite day 1 for me. Love team ninja and love games with the Japanese setting. Can't wait for this!
Looks cool to me
Everyone acting like feudal Japan as a setting is a new fad must have been living under a rock since the existence of video games or only know the big trippleA releases.
That being said, I always wanted an open world game in the Meiji and Taisho era, so this checks of one of these.
Looks amazing! Can't wait to see more
Forget comparing GoT with Ubisofts upcoming AC Japan game. This one looks a lot more like something Ubisoft would have made. lol
One of the very pleasant surprises. Looking forward to this game.
This looks awesome, very pumped!
@tameshiyaku i agree , but its pretty cool to see these games getting a big spotlight. i'm excited for all of them.
@OmegaStriver i'd be okay with that.
@playstation1995 Got Ni-Oh 2 a few weeks ago I really need to get to it 😅
People are calling this part of the feudal Japan fad, when the most interesting thing about this is it's not feudal Japan.
Feudal Japan ended 200 years before this, this is the end of early-modern Japan and the rise of modern Japan. That's a way more interesting setting and gives it a really different flavour than Ghosts of Tsushima
@Keyblade-Dan. You should.im playing nioh 2 now.and i got all the dlcs.did you get all the dlcs.the season pass.its one of the best games ever made.word up son
@playstation1995 I got the PS5 Remaster collection that includes all of the DLCs I was really getting into the original PS4 version of Ni-Oh 1 I bought early last year (took a while to get into cuz I sucked at it 😅) and I was like ok I really want to play Ni-Oh and I thought I'll get the collection because then I get it all the DLC plus Ni-Oh 1's DLC for basically nothing ^__^
@Keyblade-Dan. I actually got it on my ps4 pro with all the dlcs.i also got nioh the first one physical copie on my ps4 pro.its a fun series.word up son
Depends.
If it's an action adventure game along the lines of something like Ghost of Tsushima I'm interested. If it's just another soulslike action adventure game, I'm out.
This is Team Ninja though, so already I feel with near certainty, this won't be for me. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Rise of the Ronin was a happy surprise reveal to me! I wish we had more feudal japan games, not nearly enough.
