Our first proper look at Yakuza: Like a Dragon 2, or whatever the previously confirmed sequel turns out to be called, could be incoming. Developer RGG Studio is teasing a "sneak peek trailer" for something, as part of its next RGG Studio TV broadcast, scheduled for the 8th September. The stream is set to begin at 8PM Japan time, which is a reasonable 12PM here in the UK, and more demanding 7AM Eastern / 4AM Pacific in the US.
Everyone's expecting the next Yakuza game because we've already seen a tiny bit of it. Off-screen footage turned up in a recent video, and it's fair to assume that the project will put in some kind of appearance at this year's Tokyo Game Show, which is happening later in the month. Either way, the return of Ichiban Kasuga is nigh.
Are you looking forward to the next Yakuza? What do you want from a sequel? Start grinding for experience points in the comments section below.

I’m more than ready.
Heck yeah bring it on!
Got the 1st on PS Plus and was enjoying the heck outta of it. Then got to the part were its like, yeah youre gona need to get 3 million monies to progress. Nah
Yakuza series is one of the best in the industry.
If it gets announced with a date it will instantly become my most anticipated game. I love the entire series and LAD is the game that got me into turn based JRPG's. So bring it on!
Although I believe the entire Yakuza series is good.
Like a Dragon raised it to an 11 for me.
I love old school JRPGs and the combination of that plus Yakuza is a bang on winner.
Day 1 buy for me based on the fun I had with the first one.
"Yes Yes Yes", Yakuza diehards will know what I mean😏
Day 1 if announced. Loved the first one
Yakuza like a dragon is amazing.so this sequel is gonna be amazing as well.yakuza franchises is a really good.word up son
The worst part of a Yakuza game is when you complete the game 100% and you just stare sadly at the PlayStation store/Steam or your backlog and everything just seems to not be Yakuza enough.
A game like this is wasted over at Xbox.
Whilst Yakuza is my favourite franchise of all time, I haven’t quite connected with the characters yet for this new series. Hopefully I do with this one. It took me until the second game to warm up to judgment’s characters.
The games themselves are top tier of course, and some of the most satisfying plats around.
Can't wait. Glad to know Ichiban and his wacky cast of friends return from the off camera footage.
A Yakuza game will always be a day one for me. Still have fond memories of playing the PS2 original way back in 05 or 06 and being totally blown away by its story and fun beat em up encounters and then playing Yakuza 3 and 4 on PS3 before playing the slightly harder to find Yakuza 2 for PS2 at CeX in around 2012. The entire series is like a comedy but at the same time can be some of the most intense gripping sometimes very underated and very well put together stories in video games. Almost like a super hero without a cape at times. My only complaint about Yakuza games is they can get a bit tedious after almost 100 hours per game put into them when having a little go at the plats and for this reason Yakuza 6 is my only plat in the entire series because 6 got less tedious for its plat. Not asking the plats to be easy or less time consuming, just less tedious overall
For people who played the first Like a Dragon and previous Yakuza entries, do you think LaD is different enough to warrant a look? I loved the first 2 Yakuza games on PS2 and then have played maybe 10 hours of 3 and more recently 5 hours of Zero and just couldn't get into them anymore. I think it's the pacing and overall sameyness of the series, despite liking the characters, storytelling.
I'm curious about LaD, hoping the series' reset will hook me in again, but I'm not sure turn-based combat solves my real issues with the series.
great so much fun with the 1st game thank you.
Really looking forward as to what type of minigame will feature in this one. I'd love a return of the cabaret club from Yakuza 0.
Is it weird that I still haven't finished the first one, or even half of the OG Yakuza series and I'm still hyped?
@ApostateMage Oh please no! I'm 120 hours into Y0, still not done it, and it's all because that Cabaret game stole all my play time! lol
@SuperSilverback 3 million is actually not that hard to make if you're #1 in the management property. I forget how much I had by the time I had to hand 3 million yen over, but it was more than enough.
@Leonhart i never looked near the management, thats my problem haha
Take MY MONEY RGG STUDIOS!!!! 🎊🎉🥳🎮 I absolutely cannot wait!!! One of my favorite RPG games of all time
Semi excited. Nagoshi leaving is big enough to have me wait a bit before deciding on jumping in or not.
RGG studio never disappoints, also looking forward to any news on the other project they are apparently working on
Best news of the day. I am so pumped for a sequel!
@SuperSilverback
At first i had the same, but when i got my business beneath rank 10 i got the money very fast.
Good!! I’m playing through Like a Dragon right now and I’m in love with it.
I’m so down for a sequel.
@RudeAnimat0r
Like a Dragon streamlines a ton of the somewhat esoteric systems the old games had.
It has all the same side activities they’ve had in the series, but they are more refined, simplified, and streamlined. Which for me is perfect.
I never got hardcore into older Yakuza titles. But Like a Dragon has become a crack addiction for me.
Loved this game it was great and daft in equal measure ,it was glorious
@OrtadragoonX yah, I think what I really want is just a story mode. I don't have the time I did 15 years ago to do all the wacky side content and end up burning myself out.
I would love a curveball in a Virtua Fighter 6 reveal
The best game I have got off PS+ since getting a PS5.
How many people are working on these titles? Feels like there are two of these a year.
I still need to play thru the series, but was enjoying the Judgment spinoff until I got distracted.
I have been playing this series since about 2005/6 and enjoy every single one! So happy there will be another added to the saga. I really hope there's a Kiryu or Majima cameo again, but much less cheesy this time! Kazama Kiryu and the world he lives in has had my heart for over fifteen years! I cannot wait to get back into it. Until then, I've just started Judgement.
@SuperSilverback it doesn’t take long at all if you do the business side mission
@StandardCabrera it probably wont, just takes a bit of the enjoyment away now having to grind for money when i was just having a blast beforehand
I've bought every Yakuza game since Yakuza 3 that was released in the UK, except for that zombie game. Will possibly buy this day one.
@SuperSilverback personally haven't come across this myself but you get a ridiculous amount of money from spoilers getting the company higher and can earning money from the shareholder meetings.. doesn't take long at all
