Gameloft has today updated Disney Dreamlight Valley with its first big expansion following the Early Access launch on PS5, PS4 in early September. Free for anyone who has bought the game, a new area themed around Scar from The Lion King is available now. You'll be teleported to the Sunlit Plateau, where The Pillar of Nurturing has been blocked by some dark magic. Check out the trailer above for more context.
"In order to bring the Plateau back to life, you’ll team up with Scar — the would-be usurper of the Pride Lands who was trapped while The Forgetting ravaged Dreamlight Valley," a blog post reads. "You may want to equip your Royal Pickaxe too, as you’ll be headed to a new area deep within the Plateau’s mines to restore the Pillar of Nurturing and find the source of the problem, all while dealing with Scar’s less-than-honest motivations."
Today's update also adds a new villain Star Path to the Events page. Completing tasks will reward you with tokens to spend on items inspired by Disney characters and Halloween. Furthermore, there are new items to craft at workbenches themed around the spooky season, and there are new items on sale at the Scrooge Shop.
In our Disney Dreamlight Valley PS5 review, we awarded the game an 8/10, praising its deep customisation, charm, and wealth of content. "The title is a brilliant life sim sandbox that already has a staggering amount of content, and has already begun outlining what comes next. If Gameloft plays its cards right, this game could be a mainstay on many people's consoles for years." Today's free expansion looks set to capitalise on those promising beginnings.

Really hoping they add EVE sooner than later, feels wrong to have WALL.E without his significant other.
Also Stitch, because WALL.E, EVE, Stitch, Remy & Wreck-It Ralph are the main reasons I wanted to give Dreamlight Valley a go.
I am about halfway through the campaign (along with some world building, interior/exterior designing and gardening) and closing in on 70 hours so far. Still can't get over how fun (and addicting) this game is, with so much content and things to do, excited to play the update tonight!
Just started playing yesterday and already logged up 11 hours…It really has exceeded my expectations..can’t wait to get to the new Halloween content but I’m still a noob and have to earn the right first..the potential for this game is enormous and has got off to a tremendous start
@Pedski @frankmcma Happy to hear that you two are still enjoying the game! Normally I skip life sim games, but even I'm intrigued by the concept behind Dreamlight Valley.
Not enough to pay for it though, will wait for the free-to-play version next year.
