Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is reportedly getting premium campaign DLC content in 2023, in addition to a "greatest hits" multiplayer map pack. The anticipated FPS is set to launch at the end of the month, on PS5 and PS4, on 28th October.
Word comes to us by way of Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, with this expansion anticipated to be released in 2023, in place of a new Call of Duty title.
Schreier has previously reported that 2023 will be the first year in two decades in which no mainline Call of Duty title will be released, which is pretty mindblowing when you stop to think about it. Schreier's claims line up with Call of Duty leaker TheGhostofHope, who states that this "greatest hits" map pack will include almost all of the original Modern Warfare 2's maps.
Modern Warfare 2 has been in the news quite a bit recently. Yesterday we brought you the news that the shooter will require players to provide a phone number in order to play, and then we had that embarrassing "squad up" trailer. This was more than made up for by the title's launch trailer, which does look quite epic.
Would you be excited to see additional campaign content from Modern Warfare 2? What about a revisit to Scrapyard, Rust, or any of the other classic MW2 maps? Let us know in the comments section below.

Rust is my favourite map in any COD game. MW2 in local multiplayer was an absolute blast, especially since it had actual progression.
Here we go..looking forwards to a new call of duty but paying again for maps from previous games is a lazy cash in..this is what narcs me about cod..the endless lack of creativity in the multiplayer map packs. They want my phone number and now they want me to purchase older, crapper maps such as rust and that awful little one with the containers..
So £70 for a really short campaign then more on top of that if you want abit more typical Activision
A bunch of mw2 maps are already playable on cod mobile & mw2019 like rust , terminal , scrapyard not surprised they want to charge for them again though 🙄
@Would_you_kindly agreed..it stinks when a block buster, multi million pound selling game constantly rehashes ancient maps then charges a premium again..i'm actually glad this may be the last call of duty entry on the playstation so sony can concentrate on a new socom game (not that half arsed last offering) but a back to basics gritty tactical shooter..
I can sleep good knowing i didnt spend on this game every goodwill WITH the original MW reboot is dead.
A few concerns, first I don't want to pay for maps. secondly if we do it will split the player base. And thirdly I don't want to play Treyarch maps with infinity ward mechanics. As it will ruin the experience for me. I never enjoy infinity ward CODs as much as Treyarch. Let the next black ops use their own classic maps
I always buy the bare bones edition of CoD because the only part of the game that I actually play is the campaign. In many ways, being in mind the length of their campaigns, I get short changed because the real emphasis of the games is the multiplayer. So, for me at least, more campaign is a good thing, and certainly something that I would be interested in getting. Let's just hope that ir actually offers better value for my money when it does come out.
@Northern_munkey I'm pretty sure that when they remastered modern warfare 2 they also did the multiplayer but just left that out because they didn't want people playing it instead of the latest cod &/or warzone so they've probably just been sitting on these maps waiting for the new mw2 to release so they can charge for them
@Would_you_kindly that wouldnt surprise me at all lol
