Unsure if you’ll love Resident Evil Village in third-person? No problem! Capcom’s rolling out a brand-new demo for the survival horror’s upcoming Gold Edition, which includes the Winters’ Expansion. For those of you who haven’t been keeping up, the add-on spans three key segments: a new story starring a 16-year-old Rose Winters, additional Mercenaries mode missions, and third-person support for the entirety of the original campaign.
That latter inclusion is a big deal: not everyone jives with first-person games, and so having the option to experience the entire thing from an alternative perspective is pretty darn impressive. And, as alluded to above, you’ll be able to test out the feature as part of a new demo that’s available to download from the PS Store right now. You can play a total of 60-minutes, and don’t worry if you’re still curious about the original first-person mode, because that’ll be included as well.
All in all, it sounds like a great opportunity to get to grips with one of the Best PS5 Games. Will you be giving this sampler a spin? See things differently in the comments section below.

Love that I’ll finally get to play village in third person. Just my preference and glad they are making it possible. Also curious of Rose’s story and how she ends up at the castle. Spoiler for anybody who hasn’t beaten Village, but like most RE titles, I thought everything blew up at the end. Maybe the castle was too far from the blast or it’s a dream?
So...is 3rd person mode locked behind a paywall? 🤷♀️
@BrettAwesome that's what I'm wondering now? I assumed it was a free update but seems to be part of an expansion
@Sequel From the moment we first heard of the third person mode months ago, it was announced as part of the expansion.
When will third person mode me released? Can’t wait to play it from this perspective.
Too bad no 3rd person camera for 7.
@BrettAwesome yh says on the ps store app ,,part of the expansion or gold ed.
So, does the Winters expansion dlc allow me to play RE village that i own in 3rd person or is 3rd person only on the Gold edition?
I dont see it on ps4 app for ps4 at least, seems only a visual demo for ps5 called maiden and the old ps4 demo called village i don't know.
@sjbsixpack it's part of the expansion , the gold edition is just the base game with the new dlc included for people who haven't bought it yet
@Jtheripper go on the demos page then put newest first in the sorting bit & it should show up
@Would_you_kindly you mean in the ps4 itself i guess, i did find it there, but not in the phone app.
It's smooth in 3rd person mostly, but same demo as before seems.
Can't say im compelled to play the full game that much from the short demo, looks nice on ps4, but gameplay is stale, like they never evolve it since long years,,japanese games seem often like this.
The puzzles are boring, just the usual find the object that fits that door etc, idk, plus not much interactivity, dynamism, it's static nice graphics.
Best is the titbits of writing you read maybe.
Happy to hear they gave a free demo, even though it's the same one as before but in third person.
Somehow the 3rd person doesn't feel quite right. They told us they had to optimise the game for it, but it still feels tacked on. Maybe close corridors weren't the right place to show off this mode in the demo.
