Ace Combat fans rejoice: the latest entry is doing very well indeed. The latest entry in Bandai Namco's jet fighter action series, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, has been a big success. Not only did it receive a very warm reception from both critics and fans, it's the best selling game of the franchise. The publisher will be even happier today, though, as it's reached a new sales milestone.
Skies Unknown has now broken the 4 million mark, making it comfortably the best performing Ace Combat title. Furthermore, the series as a whole has now reached more than 18 million — not bad for what is a rather niche, under-the-radar set of games.
Ongoing support for the game will have helped a bit; a collaboration with Top Gun: Maverick (which is also very good) saw it feature a bunch of planes and plane skins based on the movie.
To celebrate the sales milestone, Bandai Namco has released a new wallpaper in various sizes for PCs and smart devices. What do you think of Ace Combat 7? Fly into the comments section below.

This is great news. The Ace Combat games are wonderful.
Wish they would update this to be fully in VR in time for PSVR2 launch. Would be a day one for me.
Yeah, the VR missions in this are awesome.
Glad for their success, but was somewhat disappointed by the game itself. It’s fun, but does not move the series forward at all. Hope that happens it AC8.
Really enjoyed pancake Ace Combat 7, but those 3 VR missions were absolutely amazing. I even bought the Thrustmaster Hotas 4 for them.
They need to bring more to the PSVR2. It's that good, Sony should be offering to pay for the development. Haha.
That's one game I really hopes PS Plus Extra brings. I'm a fan of the franchise since AC3 on PS1. Couldn't play the recent entries, and really miss the experience.
Excellent news! Any chance of a native PS5 version?
Great news... Love, love the game.
I am hoping for the PSVR2 patch for the VR missions. They were not available on PC.
@MasterChiefWiggum Nope 5 years ago I skipped the side grade xbox one s and i skipped the weaker PS4 pro and bought a One x and this game was still 1080 peasant, enforced parity with PS4 prolly part of some weird Sony deal.
C'mon, Sony. PSVR2 support for this game is such an easy win.
I've only played the campaign, but loved it. A perfect balance of arcade and simulation. I've bought it twice in fact, disc and digital, so you're welcome Bandai Namco.
If there was one game that needs widescreen support this is it. I wish the devs would update the game to support widescreen.
