As revealed by Sony earlier this week, PS Plus subscriptions for PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium are now all on sale as part of Black Friday. You can save 25% on all three memberships. Either head to the PS Store on your PS5 or PS4 console, or log into the online webpage to start. From there, you can either start a new subscription or stack your current one to make it last longer for cheaper. The offer will be available until 28th November 2022.
With the 25% discount applied, yearly PS Plus memberships cost the following:
- PS Plus Essential — £37.49/$44.99
- PS Plus Extra — £62.99/$74.99
- PS Plus Premium — £74.99/$89.99
Depending on which tier you subscribe to, you'll gain access to All PS Plus Games. PS Plus Essential rotates one PS5 game and two PS4 titles each month, and are yours to keep for as long as your membership stays active. Meanwhile, PS Plus Extra offers a much larger library of PS5 and PS4 games to download and play. PS Plus Premium then stacks Classic games on top from the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP eras.
This month, PS Plus Essential members have been given Nioh 2, Heavenly Bodies, and LEGO Harry Potter Collection to play. If you were to upgrade to PS Plus Extra, this month you'd get pretty much every Kingdom Hearts game, Skyrim, and much more on top. Opting for the top-tier PS Plus Premium would then net you five Ratchet & Clank titles for the month of November 2022.

I think if you have a higher tier subscription you can't purchase one for a lower tier. I currently have the premium one and which is expiring in January and it's not letting me buy a year for the extra tier.
@GLightning98 Yeah. Looks like the discount only applies if you resub to the same tier 🤷
Annoying, but ah well. Premium for 90.00 isn't so bad now that all of those Ratchet and Clank games are in there.
Might as well go again.
buy voucher from shopto. 90quid voucher is 80 or less.
so save a bit more
Mine expired a couple months back so might wangle this as an early Christmas present while it’s 25% off!
@liamcroft
im only getting offered the discount if i UPGRADE to higher tier. not 25% off to resub same tier. ... banner on store seems to say same?
There is really no way if my premium expires 4 December to change to extra? And buy the extra deal? I mean... Still better price to upgrade 1 year of premium but a bit of a scam isn't it?
I answer myself the offer only is for renew or improve the sub to a higher tier... Ok... Still a dissappointment
Up to now I've only ever had Essential. It expires on 21/11 (yes that's the proper way to say the date for our American readers not 11/21)
Perfect timing to upgrade to Extra for the year
Usually at this time of year Shop to sell the basic ps plus for around £29, I've just checked and it's not on there at the time of typing but maybe worth holding off for a few days just in case an even better deal occurs for Black Friday
@GLightning98 Same with me. I am on Deluxe tier and won't allow me to purchase Extra tier (on discounted price) even if I cancel the Deluxe tier first. Perhaps there might be some hidden setting to do that, but they sure want to discourage downgrading.
Btw, I ended up stacking another 1 year Deluxe sub since my current one runs out in Dec. Cost me approx INR 4300 (~53USD) after the discount.
@TrickyDicky99
Really?? That would explain why it's not on there then. Thanks for the heads up
To dumb this down for me: I have Premium until July 2023 at the moment. If I take the Premium deal for € 89,99 now, does my subscription simply extend to July 2024?
I’m slightly doubting because they advertise it as “Buy a NEW subscription” (translated from Dutch).
@Darude84 yeh it's a new subscription that will activate after current one ends.
I'm currently on extra (usually £83) so I might go premium and then thanks to discount actually pay less (£75) than I was planning to pay for extra.
In case people are unsure - you can either renew at your current level for the discount or if you want to upgrade you first pay the amount to upgrade for however long was remaining on your initial subscription, then go back in and the option to add another annual subscription will now be there.
I have stacked for 2 years at Extra for about £110 after ShopTo discounts. Well happy with that. Wondering if I should add a third year?
Extra definitely worth it based on what they have released so far, though there's no guarantee they will keep that up.
Premium only if you like the existing 400+ game, mostly PS3, library as it's been relatively stagnant by comparison.
I'm also stuck on premium having had PS Now previous to the new plans being launched but didn't really want to continue with that plan as it's just not worth the extra. I'm wondering if anyone has tried to cancel their existing plan and then to see if you can resub at a lower level? It probably won't work but just a thought.
@TrickyDicky99
Interesting...... In that case I'll follow you're advice and get the £50 voucher for £42
Cheers
@justicefingers Thanks!
I'd extend my extra, subbed until may/june I think, but I always planned to see what titles are still on there nearer to expiry to make an evaluation, so I'm not committed to this offer yet. At this rate I'll have played everything I want to by then easily, and I'm not sure what they might add that I'm interested in.
The value is only good if you know you will use the service. That's my words of forethought anyway. I might still end up taking the deal, but it doesn't feel like it's the most logical choice.
Anyone care to guess some new games that could be added next year, I'm struggling to think of anything beyond Rift Apart or TLOU remake 🤔 we don't really know which type of third party games will get added ever, the trend so far is old (but good stuff) but there isn't an infinite number of great games
Having recently moved to the UK from South Africa (where my PS subscription remains), I am able to purchase Premium for £52 because of the exchange rate
@Ravix they are all there for me on extra, they are just further down the list
Really want to downgrade to Extra but can’t find a way. So yet more punishment for signing up to premium. Why is everything so complicated with Sony. I feel like there has to be a way for me to buy a year of Extra…
Edit: Just realised this offer expires on 28th; and my sub expires on 27th. So there might be a chance!
@Ravix Yeah, I was thinking about this too, as in — over the next year what are likely to be some of the Extra offerings? I think Rift Apart is a good prediction, first party wise. TLoU1 I’m more doubtful it would be included within the year, and HFW even less so. Maybe TLoU2 though, or maybe even Dreams. Also probably The PS5 Uncharted collection Legacy of Thieves, as I’m surprised that’s not on there yet. As far as second and third party, perhaps Sifu? And I was thinking it’s likely they continue to offer the Dark Anthology games, maybe we get the third one and The Quarry at some point this year since that didn’t set the world on fire commercially and is already discounted. Also Saints Row has already become a maligned entity by its publisher so I could see it dropping in Ps+ within the year since the other games are on it.
I also really wonder if we ever get another day 1 release like Stray. Wouldn’t it be a nice surprise if they announced that one of these hyped third party games comes to Extra day 1, like Lies of P or Stellar Blade. Wishful thinking.
@K1LLEGAL yeah this offer push people who tried premium buy wants to continue as extra. I upgraded to premium only for 1 month to play the old GoW games, but now I am locked... sure i can wait to december and buy full price extra, but I feel a bit of betrayed by sony
@stvevan Accidentally deleted my other comment, oops yeah on app and on console for me it doesn't show them on console (UK) and PS App and I've spoken to others with the same experience. It's not major for me, as I have everything downloaded that I wanted to play anyway (just confusing to only see 20 PS5 games listed instead of the 60+) but if people can't find them or claim them it's a potential issue. Some games were saying to buy as well, when they are supposed to be included lol
I lucked into a long Premium sub that runs until 2026 thanks to the 'buy a month of Now and loads of PS+' loophole earlier in the year.
For me, the value from Extra has been amazing, but I can't say I would miss Premium at all. And as others have said, there's no way for a subscriber who has some Premium to extend on a discount period and just buy Extra. And the month my premium expires (Jan) there'll be no offers on Extra lol. So either pay full price, or have no sub at all until the next BF and stack then. Weird.
@Th3solution yeah TLoU is maybe pushing it, as it was full price release, and maybe they expect some sales during the TV show release, but also I'm thinking it'd be a nice gesture to give it away at that time, considering most people who really wanted it will have already bought it, being an old story and game. I can't see it having huge projected future sales, it's more of a big one and done kind of release, you'd think. But then, people will buy anything 😅
I'm banking on Rift Apart for Christmas, just because it seems like the kind of title that fits, plus it's the end of year, start of year period, where you'd think things might get more sizeable refreshes to boost interest again. But I also think that it's still a risk to expect the service to be as good year 2 as year one.
If sales and projections are good they might double down on the service and look to improve it, but it will have to be more third party based releases, right? As they can't just dump a tonne of SIE titles on it like they did year one (which made it insane value for me 😁) which means them spending much more money to acquire some high quality new(ish) titles from developers.
Hopefully it's all in place, planned out nicely for another good year. But it's still an unknown.
I'd possibly explode if they went big and got something like Jedi: Survivor from EA, but it'd have to be a huge outlay as EA can pitch that sales would be huge anyway. Why wait 9 months for gamepass when you can play it on PS Plus now? Can you imagine? Haha Get Disney in on it to promote Mando S3, or Obi Wan etc in a huge joint venture of marketing madness.
@Ravix i thought it vanished lol.
i think we may get uncharted very soon on plus as its less than 20 everywhere
@Ravix I’m with you — I hope there is some leveraging on Sony’s part to get some third party early access. However, I think the very reason that some of the third parties have partnered with Sony (like SquareEnix and Capcom) is because they know PS fans buy games. I know Xbox fans buy games too, and I don’t mean to start that debate, but I’m not convinced yet that putting games on a subscription service increases sales (at least not in most single player games)
Edit: Rift Apart is great, by the way. I paid full price for it and don’t regret it.
@Th3solution EA could be the way to go, no more actual FIFA next year and EASFC sounds kind of bad, and people will need a lot of convincing EA is this great single player utopia in the coming years too. EA sales will be down next year, regardless, they messed up battlefield, so the war with CoD has been won by the Microsoft bound behemoth. It just seems to fit, as an outsider looking in.
Yeah, I'd probably buy Rift Apart, but I've not even finished the first game yet 😅😅 I'm a very backloggy player, as some years I've not played many titles as I casually played games like RDR2 slow paced a few hours a day, for months and months with no other games, same for TW3 etc some years I'd be mostly FIFA pro clubs, with a bit of story gaming on the side, so I have had a lot of catching up to do, which is why Extra has been perfect for me right now, definitely for my year sub. I might go back to buying games, but still playing at this insane rate which would mean less need for extra or even plus, if I'm not doing online stuff. But if the catalogue looks good, then it's worth it as it saves me from buying a few of the big games I'd be buying eventually lol
No sale for the subscriptions in Turkey, sadly...
@Ravix I can totally relate. I have a large backlog and then I added all these Extra games too and I have tons to play, but the beauty of getting a year sub is just knowing I have plenty of time to get to them so I can play what I want, when I want. I’m just such a slow player. Most of the players out there can finish a 40 hour game in a week, but it usually takes me a month or two.
Of the 400+ Extra catalog, I made a short o list of about 20 that I’d really like to play. Added to that is another 40 or so that I own or have access to through old PS+ library. The beauty of it is it’s not often that I can’t find something in my library that fits my mood at the time, and I absolutely have diversified my gaming experience and played games I might have never tried before.
@Th3solution Ah, we are alike. I made a big list of PS Plus Extra games to work through knowing I'd probably be experiencing 8/9/10 out of 10 games every time and be able to spread it out over the year, and it's been great, having missed so much it means I have lots of different games from various years. I still don't rush through, but I used to wait between titles a bit more, especially if it was a big story heavy RPG that I've put a lot of hours in to over the months, I would take a break or play mindless stuff instead to break it up. But I never knew there were so many games I'd enjoy just as much, I kind of thought there was a few I'd love and the rest maybe I'd not like as much, so I ended up avoiding some for a while, but I have diversified hugely over the last 2 or 3 years. A much more open mind to all games now.
I had a quick look at your games list (more complete than mine in volume) and it's reminded me of a few I need to add to my 'to play' list again, but I believe we like some similar things, yet you seem to be missing: The Witcher 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla, Stray (so chill) and Elden Ring 😱😱 I hope these are either in your backlog or just not rated on here yet 😅 and if not, I am immensely jealous you've yet to experience all of those and get to go in blind to them (ignoring the kind of familiar AC formula, but I team those games up with an interest in history which makes them a lot more appealing to me even if they are similar in structure)
I must be missing something here. I am on Essential and recently let it 'expire' to a rolling monthly waiting for a deal, which has now arrived.
All the plans are talking about monthly prices and not annual. For example, I can only resubscribe to Essential at 6.99GBP per month. The other options offer me a discount but quote me a monthly price e.g. Extra at 10.99GBP per month.
I can't see the 37.49GBP annual price that is quoted in this article anywhere.
Any help? Cheers
@Ravix I have to agree — PS+ really is a great tool to expose you to a variety and make you a more well-rounded gamer. Through it I’ve found some favorites that I almost certainty wouldn’t have bought and played otherwise. I’ve also played a couple clunkers through the service (looking at you, Avengers) and some I thought I’d love but ended up not quite clicking with (Transistor, Hitman) but the positive experiences have drastically outweighed the negative.
And yes, gaming compadres indeed! 😄 — You had me at “games.. with an interest in history…”
In an attempt to keeping this comment section from descending into my own backlog dissertation, I’ll tag you at an applicable thread in the forums where I can go into the details, because I do want to get your take on some of the games you listed there, among others. Cheers! 👊🏼
@Ravix I hope some games I’ve hold off buying such as RE: Village, WRC Generations, Stranger of Paradise, Cult of the Lamb, NBA 2K23, Madden 23, Scarlet Nexus and Ghostwire: Tokyo. It’s not just a simple wishlist but the sort of games I see up ending on the service (sports games near the end of season, the previous WRC was on it, games such as Scarlet Nexus and G:T that won’t sell anymore, RE since the other entries are on there).
