Update: Mundfish has now confirmed Atomic Heart will indeed release for PS5, PS4 on 21st February 2023 in a new, explosive trailer. A standard version has been confirmed alongside the Premium Edition, which packages in a season pass, weapon skins, and a digital art book.
Original story: Developer Mundfish plans to reveal the release date for its alt-history FPS Atomic Heart later today, but retailers and the Microsoft Store are jumping the gun: it's out on 21st February 2023 for PS5, PS4. Pre-order pages are being spotted on the backend, which lists a Premium Edition for the aforementioned date that bundles in an Atomic Pass, two weapon skins, and a digital art book. Amazon UK also briefly noted a physical launch for 21st February 2023.
The release date should be confirmed by the studio in just a few hours, meaning Atomic Heart adds to the increasingly crowded release schedule at the start of next year. In the space of roughly seven weeks, Forspoken, Dead Space, Dead Island 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, Octopath Traveler II, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and Resident Evil 4 are all slated to launch.
We'll update this article once Mundfish makes the official announcement, which is scheduled to take place in three and a half hours time (6am PT / 1pm GMT). Is Atomic Heart already on your wishlist? Make some time for it in the comments below.

@KaijuKaiser
At this point I might not even be able to afford this hobby anymore.
Yeah, it's going to be much harder now for people to invest in games unfortunately. I used to literally buy most games that were releasing, now I have to be very choosing as to what I buy. Most of these will be £70, so makes it very unaffordable.
February is going to be a bloodbath at this point. If I had to pick... I guess I'd go with Ishin first but yeah February is stacked.
@EquiinoxGII if you have a disc edition, you can get most a fair bit cheaper physical
@stvevan yeah I do, still all adds up though.

Ow my bank account. Starting to regret renewing my PS+ extra subscription. Never going to get around to playing any of the catalogue with all these new games to plough through.
@Ward_ting play the extra games and when finished the new games should be on sale. Might be hard if you have FOMO and your friends are playing the new games. Great way to save money though, usually my route.
@Elodin yea I often do that too, I’ve only just picked up Elden Ring but that is taking all my time now so still not getting round to the Extra catalogue 😂
Of course they would choose February. It wasnt long ago when Feb had hardly any games but now it has
Like A Dragon Ishin!
Wanted: Dead
Dead Island 2
Hogwarts Legacy
Atomic Heart
Decisions decisions XD
So bizarre, what is it about that release window is so fiscally important to these shareholders? Is that the end of their fiscal year?
Regardless it feels like an odd decision even on that front. Hindering potential sales due to an oversaturation of choices.
I wonder if there is some statistic these suits are buying into that shows most game purchases happen in the first 4 months of a year?
Oh my aching wallet!! LOL. I’m going to have a heck of a backlog in early ‘23. By the time I finish up Callisto Protocol sometime in December or January, I’m going to have the following games to get through or coming up for release:
GOD OF WAR: Ragnarok
Dead Space
Atomic Heart
Steelrising
Evil West
Suicide Squad
The good thing is, by the time I get to most of these I should be able to catch a sale on them.
N.i.c.e.Atomic heart looks amazing.and the February date is good.a lot of amazing games are coming that month and beyond.word up son
@KundaliniRising333 winter, first real paycheck after xmas, if the game has legs probably span 2 fiscal years, plus late boost for shareholders
@DETfaninATL @Danloaded @Korgon @KaijuKaiser Personally I'll be buying the following games from now into March...
Though the list may change if they give March dates to SpongeBob and Jedi Survivor.
2022
God of War: Ragnarok ($70 USD) - November 09
Evil West ($50 USD) - November 22
The Callisto Protocol ($70 USD) - December 02
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Reunion ($50 USD) - December 13
Total: $240 USD
2023
Forspoken ($70 USD) - January 24
Dead Space Remake ($70 USD) - January 27
Hogwarts Legacy ($70 USD) - February 10
Wanted: Dead ($60 USD) - February 14
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty ($60 USD) - March 03
Resident Evil 4 Remake ($60 USD) - March 24
Total: $390 USD
2023 is going to be a great year across all platforms. The first quarter is already stacked.
Dead Space
Dead Island 2
Atomic Heart
Resident Evil 4
Are the 4 out of that list that I'll be purchasing depending on the review scores. So thats £280 easily gone!
@KaijuKaiser As much as I loved the recent Paramount films, Sonic X anime, Sonic Boom cartoon, and some of the Archie/IDW comics I've read over my life...always been terrible at the actual video games.
I'll wait for Sonic Frontiers to be $20 New in a few years, in no rush to play it sadly.
As for Hogwarts Legacy, I've been addicted to the franchise ever since my 5th grade class required us to read the Philosopher's Stone (this was before the rename to match the movie).
I've read all 7 books, seen all 8 films + the 3 Fantastic Beasts spinoffs, beaten all of LEGO Harry Potter on PS3, and recall loving the old school PS1 & PS2 games during my childhood.
Finally regarding Forspoken, while I am still hesitant about the story and dialogue, the recent videos expanding on Freya's magic abilities has reassured me that I'll still have a fun time even if the narrative is kinda "meh".
