Final Fantasy XVI has been handed a Brazilian age rating as speculation swirls of a release date announcement at The Game Awards next week. The JRPG has been deemed "not recommended for children under 16" due to "sexual content, sensitive issues, and violence".
With the release window currently set for summer 2023, it's being reported Square Enix will open up PS5 pre-orders in time with a launch date reveal at Geoff's Keighley's show. It's already been confirmed we'll learn the PS5 release date before the end of the year, and The Game Awards is the biggest place for it in the month of December — as long as there's no last-minute PlayStation Showcase.
The sixteenth mainline entry in Square Enix's JRPG series will be exclusive to PS5 for at least six months, with a New Game+ mode and a hardcore difficulty setting already confirmed. It was revealed last month that development is on the home stretch, so a release date in the near future wouldn't be too surprising.

Help us Geoff Keighley. Your our only hope! Can't wait for this game!
Looking forward to seeing a message from our boy Yoshi-P when it wins Most Anticipated with a new Clive Focused trailer ending with a release date of... Early July 2023.
@Mintie Can it beat Harry the Pothead? You just know that all of the children and casuals will be all over that game.
Hopefully this in summer and FFVII rebirth in november/december. If that happens it would be one of the greatest years as a ff fan. 3 Final fantasy's within a year.
@Hindenburg I doubt those "children and casuals" would vote for The Game Awards or even know what The Game Awards is
@mariomaster96 Most non casual gamers are children and children have more time than most to watch videos and play games. No adult is excited about Persona or Hogwarts Legacy.
@Hindenburg And yet I still doubt that most childen would know what The Game Awards is
@mariomaster96 You do realize that there are 24 hours in a day right? A child gamer will watch videos and hear about the game awards as we are nearing December 8 just like everyone else.
@Hindenburg no adult is excited about Persona or Hogwarts... As much as I think FFXVI will get Most Anticipated... I think you've underestimated how old the core audience for both of those franchises actually are... Especially Persona.
@Mintie i think starfield will get it not FF

You can bet they’ll be floutin that one n all
@Hindenburg yup, there's an audience out there that has an imagination, shocking I know!
@Mintie I was talking about the perverts. There is nothing imaginative about Persona. It looks like any other anime that I came across when I was a child.
@Hindenburg mate, your ignorance is showing and it just makes you look a bit sad and boring.
Best we stop here because it is way off topic to continue proving how bland and utterly tasteless you must be.
Catch you in another article, probably.

Calling it now a demo will be included with forspoken.
@Martijn87 Seriously we FF fans are going to be spoiled rotten.
Cherry on top would be the FF13 Trilogy remaster. I could see it being announced in 2023 and released sometime in 2024.
(I do not count the Xbox BC versions from a few years ago)
