The release of Syberia: The World Before on console is almost upon us, with the next adventure set in the colourful world of dearly departed auteur creator Benoît Sokal launching on 15th November. We got a new character teaser trailer, giving us some small insight into the motivations of deuteragonist Dana Roze.
Taking place across split timelines, The World Before is simultaneously set in 1937, when pianist Dana's promising career is threatened by the looming spectre of fascism over Europe, and in 2004, where protagonist Kate Walker was imprisoned in the fictional region of Taiga following the events of Syberia 3.
For the super fans out there, Microids is releasing a fancy Collector's Edition of the game, which comes packed with accoutrements like a map, music box, in-universe postcards, an art book, and a whole bunch more.
While certainly not the most popular or prolific franchise on PlayStation by any means, the Syberia series holds a special place in the hearts of adventure game enthusiasts, and it's encouraging to see it moving forwards in an era dominated by service games.

I recommend it to anyone who likes atmospheric adventures. The Syberia series is absolutely awesome.
I'm excited to play this. I never bothered with the third game because it's an absolute turd by all accounts, but this entry reviewed very well on PC.
@Gloamin you can start with this one although you probably won't have the same connection then with the main character. But if you're not into old school adventures which I could understand, watch a recap on YouTube. However, I still recommend playing them. But be aware they're very old school with lots of backtracking and such. But you don't NEED to, the story is pretty basic.
@Gloamin if you own a Switch, the first two go on sale there all the time for like 2 euros each. These games are definitely more about atmosphere and the journey of the characters more than anything else but they really excel in these aspects imo. The 3rd one is widely regarded as terrible but this is more from a gameplay perspective mostly. The story in itself isn't terrible but if I were to skip one of them, it would be 3 for sure. That said, the newest releasing tomorrow is really, really good.

I've had 1 and 2 sitting in my steam account for years but have yet to play them.
@Tecton217 Lol, cope. Democracy FTW. Fascism always loses.
I really like this image. It is a great graphics platform. The eyes of the we become what we behold female character in the trailer are very attractive even though she is just a built-up character.
@EVIL-C Name one country in the world that currently operates under a democracy. Protip: you can’t. Also, it doesn’t work with international banks.
As someone who loves Syberia ever since the first one release (3 is iffy), I would love to play this. But for some reason, it's not possible to find a physical copy here. Bit annoying.

@Tecton217
Name one fascist country that has ever worked or hasn't led to countless deaths
@PegasusActual93 there was only one, Italy, and it was working fine until they lost a war.
@Tecton217
You mean the same fascist Italy that experienced a major drop in income, that couldn't properly produce nutritional foods like fruits and vegetables leading to massive malnutrition amongst the populace, that enacted the same racist policies as Nazi Germany, that used the OVRA aka their secret police to capture and kill countless people who expressed opposition, that oppressed women and that angered the populace so much they hung Mussolini's corpse up in the middle of a street and the people brutalized his corpse by continuously throwing whatever they could find until his body was no longer recognizable? That fascist Italy?
@PegasusActual93 No, I’m talking about the one that the banking cabal tricked the entire world into destroying because it was a threat due to its national sovereignty and freedom.
@Tecton217
You have no rebuttal to anything I said so you just resort to conspiracy theories. Yes by "cabal" we know exactly what that is code for. Italy was allied with Germany and Japan so as a byproduct was also an enemy. I've read your past comments and know you are a Nazi lover so GTFO I have no respect for you.
@PegasusActual93 Lies need no rebuttal, and you rebut nothing I said either. This is your brain on liberalism. You know nothing of “Nazis” and the fact that you assume I align with their message purely because I speak the truth is tragically sad, because it means you know a reality exists that you refuse to accept.
@Tecton217
I did in fact rebut your statement by listing all the reasons why Fascist Italy was not a success story like you claimed it was. There just is no point in arguing with people like you. You are either a troll or just too far gone in extremist ideology. You buddy are the real tragedy here. I wish that was a rare occurrence but I unfortunately working in law enforcement have known others that are hopelessly gone like you.
@PegasusActual93 Not an argument.
@Gloamin Hey, felt the need to come back and let you know something in case you're planning to buy the game. It runs absolutely horrible on PS5, especially when panning the camera. It is super stuttery. However, if you change the video output in the PS5 settings menu to 1080p, the game runs at smooth 60.
@Gloamin Update: Seems to be a bug. Patch is already being worked on right now according to the dev.
