We’re sure many of you will be familiar with The Settlers series, which got its start on the Commodore Amiga all the way back in 1993. A whopping 30 years later, legendary developer Blue Byte – now a subsidiary of French publisher Ubisoft – is reviving the franchise, and for the first time ever its poised to set up shop on a PlayStation platform. There’s no word on which Sony systems will be supported, but we’re assuming PS5 and PS4, and there’ll be full crossplay and cross-save available across all platforms.
In addition to sandbox and competitive modes, you’ll find a full story-driven campaign, featuring three factions: the Elari, the Maru, and the Jorn. There’ll be 12 maps available when the title launches on 17th February, 2023 on PC, with the PS4 version scheduled to follow shortly thereafter.
You can check out a development update above, which largely focuses on the PC build, but should give you a glimpse of what to expect. Is this the kind of experience you’ve been looking for on PS5 and PS4? Build some robust production routes in the comments section below.

I spent so much time with the first 2 Settlers games! Not sure what they're like these days though (I remember not enjoying S3 that much).
@Voltan I remember seeing a video from a huge Settlers fan a view months ago and he really disliked it
I spent a very long time playing The Settlers on my Amiga, in both single player and versus mode. Brilliant. I hope this version captures what made that game so good. I haven’t played any of the sequels, so this could be an opportune time to jump back in!
That’s pretty cool, I love how many PC series we’re getting on PS5 now.
I didn't play settlers since "settlers 2 : gold edition ". And to be fair I never did any good in campaign.
But I enjoyed whatever reason, building up an empire again and again.
I kind of looking forward to see this game on PS.
@michaelf Same here, I loved the first two. I think I still have the Amiga and PC version disks in the loft somewhere.
I loved the simple but colourful graphics and the sounds and music on the Amiga. Fond memories of simpler days.
Huh, the PS debut overall? Only now? Even NDS had a port of the second game. Well, better late than never.
At last I can’t wait m, this and football Manager is dream stuff
Love the settlers games ,really pleased coming yo ps4/ps5,looking forward to it:)
I never played this on computer/PC. Is this similar to Age of Empires where you build out your kingdom, build walls, defend against attacks, etc or is it more an economy simulator? I really loved Age of Empires with castle building-like concept, but being a PS/Mac house now, kind of shut out from all their new remasters. Anyone remember Castles back in the day? That was another good one, albeit older tech.
@Jettstyles Exactly my question. I used to love AoE 2 back in the day, but with that locked to Xbox/PC , it would be interesting to know if this plays in a similar way
I used to like playing Settlers but to be honest I just liked getting all the little fellas to build the houses and then I lost interest when it turned violent.
