With Dreadwolf on the horizon, starving Dragon Age fans finally have another massive roleplaying experience to look forward to. The wait just got a little easier, too, with the release of the first trailer for the upcoming Netflix animated series Dragon Age: Absolution, which looks pretty darn good.
The animation is smooth, and it really looks like Absolution is taking the source material seriously, so we can't help but be optimistic about this one. After the success of the excellent Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Netflix has shown that animated video game spinoffs don't have to be an afterthought and can serve as a worthy expansion of a gaming universe in their own right. It helps that the creators worked closely with writers and lead creatives from Bioware to produce Absolution.
We won't pretend to be an expert on the matter, but Absolution is set within the Tevinter Imperium, a nation of sadistic slavers and a major player on the continent of Thedas. The story appears to take place after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition but before Dreadwolf, and perhaps characters or events within Absolution will be referenced within that game, as Bioware has previously worked spin-off material into mainline games.
All six episodes of Dragon Age: Absolution will drop, in typical Netflix fashion, next month on 9th December. Do you think Absolution has the chops to be the next Edgerunners? Let us know in the comments section below.

Oops... "All six episodes of Dragon Age: Inquisition..."
It does indeed look good though. Netflix has quickly become the home for animated video game shows. Arcane, Cyberpunk, and now Dragon Age (hopefully).
@KilloWertz Whoopsie. Updated
You just know that any spinoff called 'Absolution' is going to be awful even if it wasn't an anime. They might as well have called it Dragon Age: Resurgence or 2 Dragon 2 Age
Despite the somewhat bland animation, this doesn't look bad, but I've never played dragon age before.
It looks pretty bog standard. Vox Machina managed to get past its bland animation by being funny and irreverent. Edgerunners was helmed by Trigger so it was always going to be special. Arcane was visually stunning and brilliant.
This doesn’t look that interesting on the surface but maybe the plot is at least good.
@tameshiyaku Origins still kinda holds up (just about), well worth a try if you don’t mind older games. 2 was ok and I wasn’t a fan on Inquisition.
@KilloWertz I haven't played any of the games, but still looking forward to watching Absolution.
