The minigames are a massive part of the appeal in any Yakuza title, and it looks like SEGA will be bringing back a classic for the upcoming Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. Those of you who follow the series closely will know that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is currently holding a competition for models to appear in the title – and it’s since confirmed on its Western social media accounts that this is all related to the return of an iconic distraction, the Cabaret Club which first debuted in Yakuza 0.
The new title will see you take control of series stalwart Kazuma Kiryu once more, and will depict the time between Yakuza 6 and the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, so it’s probably safe to assume that the stoic star found a little spare time to run his own cabaret club on the side. For those of you not familiar with the minigame, it’s basically a management mode, where you recruit hostesses and pair them up with paying customers in order to increase your rank – and, of course, income.
No further details have been announced at this stage, but winners of the aforementioned competition will also cameo in Like a Dragon 8 as well. Pretty cool!

The minigame becomes a little repetitive to be honest. Played it in multiple iterations and would like them to do something different.
@thefourfoldroot1 I'm sure they'll improve it in this one, so there'll be more depth to it.
I’ve missed it and am stoked to see it back! I can understand people not liking it, but I’ve always dug it.
Please don't lock a cool combat style behind it.
Like...it's a neat minigame, but it's a pretty involved and time consuming one.
@get2sammyb
As much as I love the series, I’m not too convinced they improve as much as add to the mini games.
This was my favorite mini game the series has seen up to this point so this is great news! I remember the Yakuza 0 one had a shockingly gripping story attached to it. This will obviously be a Day 1 purchase for me next year.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 still has the best one IMO, just had so many throwbacks to Yakuza Zero, it's far better than the hostess dating mini games that you have to slog through for the platinums.
Woooooohoooooo
If it's the Yak 0 one then awesome. The ones in the other games (not sure if they were actually cabaret clubs anyway) where you had to walk around the club were a bit rubbish
The music was great in 0's cabaret club too
@GorosBat Yup, Kiwami 2’s is amazing. I lost track of how many times I told myself “I’ll go to bed after just one more shift…”
The a progress they made in the mode from 0 to Kiwami 2 was pretty large. I'm sure they'll add some more wrinkles here too. Can't wait!
@Amnesiac same as you , and I liked the photo-shooting mini-game too . I hope they bring it back too , was really fun to play!
Loved the mode in 0 and Kiwami 2. Let’s hope Yuki is back!
I absolutely loved the cabaret minigame in both 0 and Kiwami 2. So I'm really glad that RGG Studio decided to bring it back for Gaiden. The music was actually quite good for this side stuff. Even though Kiwami 2's version played similarly to 0's I still enjoyed it.
One of the best mini games and Kiwami 2 as above comment or two mentioned.
The storylines were excellent too, and the corrupt judge being replaced by Majima in Kawami 2 was an excellent throwback to Zero.
Also being able to hire lady was from Yakuza 0 was an excellent touch.
Now also bring Kaoru back.
I love the song, As You Like, that plays during this in Yakuza 0.
@Amnesiac I recognize that one haha
I put way too many shifts in the club, treated it like the main game at one point 😂
I hope they have more face scans for
adult actresses in this one. They apparently already had the 🐐 Kirara in Kiwami
@Cherip-the-Ripper I was amazed when Takahashi Shoko turned up as a hostess in Kiwami 2. Including performers from the more risqué side of the Japanese entertainment industry really adds to the atmosphere of these games. The race queen at the workshop in Like a Dragon was a nice touch too.
@Amnesiac
Ohh that's nice to hear, yet to start kiwami 1&2 but very much looking forward to it.
Who's the race queen then? Can't find it online and don't believe I finished that sub quest.
@Cherip-the-Ripper That's Sumire Sawa, proprietor of the Romance Workshop in Isezaki Ijincho. Her hobbies include caring for bonsai trees and electrifying blunt weapons.
Hi there fellow gamers
Well I´m gonna have to buy this game now.
People say Yakuza is a serious crime drama and it is.
The Cabaret Club is the real Yakuza 0 story. It has, comedy, drama, action and a cool twist in the end.
Joking asside, never in my life as a gamer would I thought that I would be so adicted to a mini game about running and managing a Cabaret Club, hiring "Star" Hostesses and chosing their dresses and accessories. And the songs are super catchy.
And even though I started doing for the ultimate Majima combat style, I got so invested in it that I kinda for got about the main game story 😜
Yakuza 0 is a master class game that has THE best mini games, a great story, memorable characters and one amazing music soundtrack to boot.
In the words of Kazuma Kiryu: "That´s Rad!"
Cheers, stay safe good people and happy gaming to us all
Oh no! I'm 120+ hours into Y0, still unfinished, because this darned game consumed half of that play time. It's great, but it definitely goes on far too long to actually complete it all.
Great title on this game! Looking forward to it!
