Focus Entertainment attracts a certain type of project, and this latest from Life Is Strange developer Don’t Nod, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, certainly fits the bill. Described as an action RPG, you’ll play as “two proficient ghost hunters and lovers, faced with impossible choices”.
Set in the late 17th century, you’ll play as Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, ghost-hunters who succumb to a disastrous mission, leaving Antea fatally wounded and transformed into the very spirit she’s vowed to wipe out. The gameplay loop will see you combine Antea’s new-found spiritual powers with Red’s arsenal, and will raise plenty of moral quandaries for the couple.
It’s an interesting premise and the trailer certainly looks suitably moody. The game’s due out at the end of 2023.
