If you’ve been paying attention to PS Stars, then you’ll be aware that you can accumulate Points pretty quickly – especially if you’re paying attention to the latest campaigns. Points, of course, can be spent on PS Store credit, with 1,250 Points netting you a cool £5/$5 voucher. If you’re a PS Plus member, you can get 10 Points for every £1/$1 you spend on Sony’s storefront, but a couple of new campaigns will allow you to earn an additional 100 Points in seconds.
All you need to do is play a couple of PS Plus games. The first campaign, Your PS Plus Monthly Games Await, will reward you with 50 Points for playing one of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, BioMutant, or Divine Knockout. PS Plus Extra members can then earn an additional 50 Points for trying one of My Time at Portia, Ashen, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, The Messenger, Child of Light, or Hollow Knight.
And that’s it: 100 Points for very little effort! In fact, if you act before 15th December, you can get another 50 Points just for booting one of the following co-op games: Tetris Effect: Connected, Overcooked 2, Victor Vran Overkill Edition, Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince, Moving Out, or Dead by Daylight. That’s a total of 150 Points just for loading three different games! You can find out more about the current campaigns in our PS Stars guide.

I haven't been paying attention to this Stars thing at all tbh
Think I'm missing out?
I always liked the Nintendo Stars scheme while the virtual console was about. This seems similar. Cant be bad getting a bit of cash back!
@roe, it’s worth a look, I don’t slavishly do the activities and I’ve got 750 points already (been going about a month I think)
@roe no.
@roe Depends on you. While free is good, time is also precious and the rewards are pretty minimal, and often more convoluted compared to rival offerings.
Personally for now I just go into the app once a week and activate the quests (you have to activate them first which is annoying) and then see what I come up with playing naturally during the week.
@roe nope 😁
I got a random thing because I saw Biomutant listed on the app, which I was playing anyway so I clicked it for 50 points, but it seems fairly meaningless 😬 other than that it says I'm level 3, but that's just because I've been playing and buying games like I normally would. And I happened to get a load of rare trophies for Death Stranding because all the trophies happen to be rare (because a lot of people didn't go past the intro quest it seems lol)
No idea what level 3 means, or what will happen when it hits level 4. I wouldn't even know where SIE customer support is, or what they deal with, and that's supposed to be one benefit.
I got some of those recently for playing Tetris Effect and The Messenger, the latter of which I ended up playing for a couple of hours as its rather good. I've got around 2500 points at the moment so can get a nice little discount and hopefully they flesh this out even more
I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had enough points to redeem two $5 PSN cards. I didn't do anything I wouldn't have done normally, so I'd say PlayStation Stars is pretty cool.
Ive got 0 points because Sony wont let me join im still on a 2 month wait list
what an absolute joke
@roe It is, people are really weird saying no. The reality is you used to get nothing for buying games on PS Store and now you get something back.
I understand not wanting to bother completing all the Campaigns, and that's fine, but you may as well get the "free" credits if you were going to spend money on the PS Store anyway.
Yeah I don't know why people are saying it isn't worth checking out when you get free store credit with no drawback. The other bits like the levels and digital trinkets are kinda whatever.
I got my first £5 store credit yesterday. Most of the points came from buying PS plus extra on black Friday which left me on 1200 points, but the fact that I could push that over to 1250 just by playing a game I was planning to play anyway is really nice.
Big recommend on The Messenger btw
@roe It's genuinely very easy to build up points.
Most of the collectible campaigns are based around games that have already been given away as PS Plus monthly titles, and the points that you can exchange for store credit build up pretty quickly as others have noted.
And buying a new release will net you a lot of points towards that too.
I've been playing Century: Age of Ashes a lot lately. The other day they released an armour skin that I wanted for the Windguard.
I checked my Stars points, converted them to €5.00 and bought the currency for the skin.
Skins and expansions are the kind of thing I'll be using it for.
My only issue is that some of the digital collectible campaigns don't appear in my region.
The Wonderbook one is not showing on my account, but I have the Wonderbook for PS3.
To me, the best thing about the program (other than earning psn credit) is that it encourages me to dig out titles from my shameful backlog. I installed Detroit to complete one of the earlier quests and to my slight surprise, have found it really compelling. My only quibble is that they are a little late to the party with some of the monthly store picks. It would be nice to get the point boost for games I purchase before the campaigns release. All in all, it’s a nifty program that anyone can benefit from, even if they choose not to engage with it at all.
Thanks for the responses all. Think I'll look into this soon as I already give Sony enough money, its about time they gave a little back 😂
Never really paid attention to Stars, so I saw free currency in the article, got excited... then realised that unless you have PS Plus, your rewards are limited to digital collectables with the exception of one campaign that gives you a whole 50 points. Feels designed for those who embrace the digital future.
Seriously thank you for this! Keep posting these tips, just netting 150 points, zero effort
Still on the waitlist lol
I like PS Stars. I've been doing most of the campaigns that require minimal effort earning enough points to get 5 bucks off a game. I'm currently Level 3 and have 2 arcade machines and a PS3 as my Top 3 Collectibles.
Gonna be a hard pass.
Lot of 'cool' kids in these comments. It's a free service. Lighten up and take your moody shades off.
I still have zero points because I don't buy any games digitally. Maybe I'll take part in these to get some.
@roe i would say no.all you get is visual collectables you can only view via the app and the rewards points are laughably near worthless. I think you have to spend over 1000 dollars before you get enough for a game.
I've been playing Biomutant yesterday and nothing happened, even December check in didn't "checked" so it looks like my PS Stars has broken.
Thanks for the tips on earning alot of points easily!
