Supergiant Games announced its first-ever sequel at The Game Awards overnight: Hades II. The follow-up to the indie hit received a trailer confirming its existence, but platforms outside of a PC release were not revealed. However, since Hades did eventually make its way to PS5, PS4 we'd be surprised if a port of the sequel doesn't eventually end up on a Sony system. Check out the trailer above.
Just like the original game, Hades II will first release into Early Access on PC. More details will be shared next year, but we at least know Greg Kasavin returns to lead the script. Spencer Wan will direct. "Meet the Princess of the Underworld in Hades II, the bewitching sequel to our award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler," the YouTube description reads.

Never did get through the 1st game. Too bloody hard for my style of play but i loved the game and the lore.
@Kidfunkadelic83 consider trying god mode. I don’t like roguelikes and I play most games in story/easy mode. Hades was a blast and god mode helped me get to the end.
Im sure its gonna come to PS5 eventually. But like Hades its most likely gonna do Early Access on PC > full Release, Xbox/switch and then PS5.
I just know I am so stoked for this. Bought Hades during Early Access and loved it. Will do the same here. The story, lore, the characters, the banter.. Everything was just so extremely well written and acted.
Awesome! Can't wait
@Kidfunkadelic83 play God Mode
Hades was fantastic. However, I do feel they should have maybe gone a different route here. Instead of continuing with Greek, they could have gone down the route of Helheim.
This was my reveal of the night tbh. After getting into Supergiant and looking at their track record, I thought the idea of a sequel wasn't going to happen. Never been happier to be wrong about anything. Sucks that the PS5 port is years away again, but I might have to cave and get in on that early access.
@SlySnake0407 I posted something very similar to this over at Pure Xbox last night. I liked Hades (although it is also my least favorite SG game). I LOVE Supergiant. And I will definitely play this once it is out of early access.
But I agree with you: Supergiant is truly special because they make a unique game each time. That team being locked into sequels makes me uneasy.
Early access makes more sense on PC. Actual release on everything.
But this is a SteamDeck game in my book. I already have tons of games on the PS5 list.
Hot god time, hype
One of my fav games and I don't even like rogue lites. I am bummed that it doesn't continue with Zagreus though, even if his story was pretty much done.
Bought Hades on PC, and again for PS5. Absolutely love it. 2 will be like $25 bucks which is crazy considering how many hours I'll put in to it. If it's as good as the first, I'd pay $70.
Hades and Bastion are by far my favorites. Everything from gameplay to the music is an experience. Looking forward to another stellar game.
There’s no way it won’t at least come out on PS5.
This was by far and away the best “surprise” for me. Horizon DLC didn’t surprise me. Nothing really was like “Holy ~€}^#€}€ that’s wild!!!” besides Hades 2 for me. I hope Zagreus teams up maybe like how Thanatos does in some rooms. Tbh I’d hope for more than that but at the minimum, that’d be cool. Excited for more info!!
@Westernwolf4 There’s a post on the Supergiant blog about why they decided to make a sequel- namely, that making one is, in and of itself, a new thing for the studio, and they wanted to give a crack at it.
And looking at some of the screenshots from the gameplay, it does look like there should be plenty of interesting changes.
I doubt they’ll make another sequel, at least not right after this.
@Ipslore Thanks, I did read that yesterday, and I thought their reasoning was cool.
It does not take away from my preference that Supergiant come up with a new idea, because they do so much unique cool stuff. But I also recognize that SG has no obligation to make their decisions based on my preferences. 😃
I still need to play thru the first Hades game, but excited for the fans!
