It's so sad to see no mention of Starfield in the 'upcoming' games section. Maybe Microsoft should bribe Jim by offering him Bethesda games and mods instead of COD?
Stray and Cult of the Lamb nominated for best PS5 game and not A Plague Tale Requiem? 😒
Eh... I wrote them in. Luckily they give you the option to do that.
It's kind of funny that The Last of Us Part 1 is nominated for many things except best Re-Release. That aside I can see why it's nominated for best graphics and accessibility options, though story doesn't make sense given that's from a 9 year old game.
The most anticipated for me is the Resident Evil 4 Remake and GT7 has the best use of the Dualsense that I've played this year, I'm still undecided on best game and need to play some more God of War first
Best New Character category and no Thrud. What a travesty.
Bit odd that Wolverine is listed as most anticipated but Spider-Man 2 isn't?
@carlos82 I was thinking the same.
Especially considering it's the second friggin re-release for cash s that TLOU has had. I had to look twice just to make sure I didn't miss it in the category.
It doesn't deserve a vote either way but it's certainly funny that it's not in that category (Sony and ND still trying to Pretend that it was a full remake).
Where's Spider-Man 2? That's surely releasing before Wolverine.
Interesting takeaway: they don’t offer TLOU remakester under “best re-releases”…
Also: most anticipated titles 2023 and beyond list Wolverine but not Spider-Man 2…
Wonder if we can chalk Spider-Man 2 off the potential 2023 game list… I can see Wolverine being a more linear game, no open world, making it a lot “easier” to complete than SM2.
Best new character - Melania
What an absolute maximum troll
@AdamNovice @Ralizah The PS Blog rules state Spider-Man 2 isn’t nominated because it won most anticipated last year.
@LiamCroft that’s an odd rule, I mean, the game is still likely the most anticipated PlayStation game, and is what I would had voted for. As it stands I voted for AC Mirage because I’m an AC fanboy.
Off topic.. but i just got a PSVR 2 email! It's all pre ordered! I'm in baby! Roll on February..
Oh yeah.. Tunic best indie for me. Loved it.
TLoU: Part 1 would have been perfect for best re-release. Sony just robbed themselves.
Man, tough to pick between best re-release: Capcom Fighting Collection or TMNT Cowabunga Collection. I'm surprised Atari 50 isn't on there. I voted for a lot of Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West. Haven't Played GoW:R yet.
@LiamCroft Ah, it helps if I read it properly lol
A Plague Tale Requiem for best story, graphical showcase and soundtrack for me.
Stray voted for in everything, other than things like Audio Design and soundtrack for Elden Ring (boss encounter music still plays in my head) and rubbish stuff like Multiplayer I just stuck COD. Thank you very much
Best character Cat and that's a fact 😸😸😸
Art direction is always any FromSoft game. In this case Elden Ring.
@PlayStationGamer3919 same. I bounce off ot most games fast.. but sonic really got its hooks in me
I like the best new character category. Wish more stuff like that would appear in game awards (best weapon, best map, best vehicle etc.)
My GOTY is Elden Ring. Almost 120 hours it took me to finish it over three or four months. Awesome game which I've recently started a second character with!
My favourite new character would be Ranni. Just a really unique character design and story and thanks to the vague from software style of story telling a lot of the character is left up to my interpretation/imagination which I like.
Most anticipated is Stellar Blade. Just looks kick ass and fun and new. Street Fighter, Tekken and Resi 4 are close though.
@Sequel
Got mine as well a few weeks ago in the UK.
Elden ring wins hands down. Gran turismo graphics.
God of war Ragnarok goty
Big Joke I Take It....Most Of These Are Trash....Guess it's who you pay to win, instead of winning because it's ACTUALLY good....ROFLLMFAO!
Looking at these list I give up on getting back on track when looking to my backlog lol.
I do like that they always give the option to write in your own choices. It's what I do for most of the categories. I realize my picks stand little to no chance of winning, but they're my favorites of the year, & it (hopefully) lets Sony know that some of us enjoy the less beaten path!
@AdamNovice Because Spider-Man is so profaned character, he became boring. While Wolverine is THAT character, that everybody wants to play from deep of its heart, but there is not enough games with him.
Elden Ring, but no Rykard. Sadness.
I'd still vote for Spider-Man 2 if I could, otherwise it's a three way tie between Wolverine, Jedi Survivor, and Hogwarts Legacy.
@Mauzuri Not really if your not interested in them that's fair. I only played Kao the Kangaroo and Grid Legends this year (the game I prefer over GT7 any day for racing game award GT7 is a disappointment to me). I know the opinions on Horizon Forbidden West from family members and they didn't like it as much as the first (story or gameplay systems added) and even the walking sim/Indie playing family member didn't really like Stray.
But I think they are fine enough even if not my type of games personally (seeing footage of Stray it made more sense to me and it's seems alright but I'm more into platformers that use animals in different ways than Stray being what it is. I think other platformers are better than Kao though, Kao isn't my standard it's on the lower end of what I prefer platformers do with animal characters even if I enjoyed it).
@Mauzuri It's fine. It isn't the best platformer you will ever play. It is a new game though (4th or reboot something like that) not a remaster like Ty was. Footage is definitely worth watching. I watched the first 3 games be reviewed by Nitro Rad and I think he gave far responses of how the games are. He tries to be optimistic with B grade platformers of what bad and good they do. The prior games seemed like Crash for Kao 1 (corridor based platformer similar to Crash like others I've seen on the Dreamcast like Magnetic Neo or Donald Duck Going Quackers), Rayman 2 for Kao 2 (combat and certain areas are similar to Rayman 2) and 3 an expansion of 2.

Story is 'save your sister' who went missing. You have certain bonus levels. The main levels are pretty alright. I came acros a few visual glitches and fell through the world in 1 level and there was no death plane so I had to restart the level. They have fixed things over time though, add DLC with new costumes (some free, some paid) and are planing on a few new levels to pay for.
The game has about 3 worlds and the final world. About 4 levels per world. They are fairly lengthy levels but it's still a short game.
You have your jump, climb and shimmy across ledges, your fists to fight with besides a roll attack, you climb using your ears, there is the neck above the water thing that game 1 and 2 are known for (while a bug in those games it is intentional I think in this game as a nod to those even the idle animations are similar to 2), your power ups with fire, wind and ice to interact with blocks slide along frozen water, pull blocks, fire for burning webs. It's pretty alright. It's a B grade game it isn't anything that amazing.
Voice acting is ok, the dialogue can be 'hit to the knee' or 'social media' like at times but it's very uncommon just annoying when you do hear it/read the subtitles. For a Polish B grade developer still going 20 years later making a 4th game for their mascot platformer (1st game on the Dreamcast) it's a fair time but I wouldn't expect high quality with it. It is cheap now I think these days.
Check footage for sure on this one. I enjoyed it for what it is like I do many B grade games but I also wouldn't count it as the best platformer AAA or out of other B grades I've played or seen review videos on that are better with more creative ideas from the 2000s. It fits in with the platformer revival going on these days but it's average to fine. If that sounds fun to you go for it. If not that's fair.
