If you’re not a PS Plus subscriber and fancy a taste of online multiplayer on your PS5 and PS4, then Sony is removing the restriction this weekend. From 10th December through 11th December, everyone will be able to play online, at no extra cost. Of course, the paywall will be reintroduced once the temporary promotion has elapsed.
You’ll obviously need to own a compatible game to participate, but that goes without saying. Will you be taking advantage of this offer and testing out any online multiplayer modes? Remember, if you’re curious about the benefits of Sony’s subscription service, you can find a full list of All PS Plus Games through the link.

multiplayer for everybody ! ❤️
If they can do this for a weekend, they can do it entirely. Paywall to use multiplayer is a cashcow in gaming, unfortunately it’s been this way with consoles forever.
Queue all the I've already paid for a years subscription, that's not fair, I hope Sony is going to refund us for the 2 days comments
@Digit2021
We the consumers have shown we are willing to pay for it so it will never go away.
Xbox Live started this and once Sony tested the waters themselves with PS Plus in the later days of PS3, there was no going back.
@Digit2021 I'm sure the devs who make online games appreciate not having to pay the full cost of servers for consoles like they would/do for PC. Though what percentage goes towards servers vs other perks of plus is a mystery.
I think cloud saving should be free
@jrt87 I thought that external drives could now be used on PS5. If not, then I guess that is Sony's way to drive more people to sub for cloud storage.
My PS+ Essential sub is due to expire this month, and I am questioning why I would need to renew it. I already no longer play multiplayer games, and with a couple of external storage devices at hand, I don't even need the cloud storage.
Also, Haunting Ground is one of my favourite (PS2) games.
yeaaaay! I'm already excited!
Cool. I may as well make the most of it and see what Fall Guys is like these days.
if you dont want sony to get hack we will always pay for online.
@Netret0120 @Digit2021 Hopefully one day in the near future gamers will wake up and stop paying for them.
Only way the big companies will care is if they lose their money revenue.
@KidBoruto
My PS Plus expires next year in June, and considering not renewing due to the cost. I don't play MP, have too many games to worry about PS Plus free games (I think I have only played and finished 1x PS Plus game since my subscription due to family and time constraints). So really I am paying a premium for just cloud saves, which is only handy if the PS5 blows up.
@Slayer25c
Gmail and Google is a free service but I'm sure they have high end security protocols on their mainframe servers to help avoid/prevent hacking
@Digit2021 Fair point! I also rarely play any of my PS+ games.
However I already committed earlier in the year to 5 years of the service, so must wait for that to run out first.
