Battle lines have been drawn and a video game war is being fought across social media: it's Sonic Frontiers vs. Genshin Impact. Both titles have been nominated for the Players' Voice Awards at The Game Awards tomorrow night, and the hardcore fanbase of each game has taken it upon itself to try and make their chosen game the victor. Just 15 hours of voting remain, and it certainly looks like one of the two will come out on top despite three other entrants.
Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, and Stray all made it to the final round of fan voting, but previous rounds showed Sonic Frontiers and Genshin Impact commanding up to 80 per cent of the overall vote. Therefore, it very much seems like a two-horse race for the award. Results aren't shown on The Game Awards website for the final vote, with the winner announced during the show on Thursday night.
Genshin Impact is also nominated for the Best Ongoing Game and Best Mobile Game categories, while Sonic Frontiers only has a chance of winning the Players' Voice Award. Hashtags like #SonicSweep are now trending on Twitter to try and make it happen. Who do you want to win? Share your pick in the comments below.

I can no longer see the results on the TGA page... also, it now lets me vote multiple times (after refreshing the page) so I'm not even sure if my vote is registered.
when i got frontiers i couldn’t wait to set the voices to japanese and english subtitles , because ever since after unleashed the dialogue , and voice acting , became really cringe & trash as ***** . roger craig smith is the worst sonic i’ve ever heard , whether it’s his voice acting for sonic or the scripts they give they’re both terrible . but i don’t got nothing against him , he voiced & had the best batman in my favorite batman game ffs & voiced ezio in the best assassins creed ever made , his sonic just sucks .
edit - oh its players voice 😂😂
This is more exciting than the GOTY award ever will be. Go Sonic Frontiers! 😄
It's always the weebs, isn't it?
I also continue to be amused by how the player vote is either "the only award that matters" (see 2020) or meaningless (I'm assuming a lot of people will say that this year) depending on the outcome
I voted for Sonic cause there's no way I'll let a game that didn't even release this year win
Also I ofc enjoyed Sonic Frontiers
Stray was unique in it's offering and should be celebrated for it
I'm not casting any vote because I stopped taking TGA (and these kind of polls) seriously a long time ago. I rather enjoy this silly drama between the Sonic and GI community right now.
@Korgon: You said it!👍
After all this news about this battle.
I hope stray wins hahhahaha
There’s been people in my mentions for the past two days on twitter arguing about this still
The Game Awards discord is now just debates on Genshin vs Sonic
The subreddits for Genshin and Sonic are filled with debate over this while the Elden Ring and God of War subs aren’t even acknowledging it
This is the most annoying I’ve seen the Genshin and especially the Sonic fanbase in a long time
It's been confirmed that genshin players are botting the vote
Previously it was the Sonic and Pokémon fans at war over which game was the ugliest
The only award Sonic Frontiers should win is the fastest game to go on sale for half off award. Still barely made the top 10 in sales that week. A mediocre game is a win for that fanbase now a day. Lol!
Both are using bots and the subreddits are in meltdown mode over this. Its quite immature and ridiculous.
Maybe if their games were better they'd be too busy playing them to have a pointless voting war.
This is an amusing story.
What is worse here is that Genshin is an ongoing game. If you think this is bad, wait til you see next year in Player’s Voice when it is Genshin vs BotW2.
Both terrible games, one of which is not even from this year.
Just goes to show how meaningless these awards are.
TGA: Battle of the Bots.
I'm rooting for Sonic between the two.
Didn't Genshin come out a couple of years ago? On that basis alone Sonic or anything from this year should win
If it’s between Sonic and Genshin then I’d rather Sonic as it actually came out this year.
Lmao if genshin wins then players will likely get extra currency like they usually do when they win an award. Meanwhile if sonic wins, it's just a meaningless award from a boring show
As someone that still plays genshin, I hope genshin wins. I get something from it
Reminder that halo infinite won it last year when it wasn't even out only the multiplayer beta was 🤣
@TechaNinja sounds like Genshin should win then if their players are more passionate to go to such lengths.
@Judal27 didn't think about that I've been playing alot of genshin recently so I hope it wins now so I can get some free primogems lmao
Sonic Frontiers should win.
No way I'm voting for a free to play gachafest errand simulator.
User voted awards are trash.
Sonic and Genshin?
Last year was halo?
Common now.
Most of genshin fans wasn't even aware that there was a voting poll going on since a lot of them don't care about the award. But recently, genshin fans caught wind about sonic fans giving them offensive racial remarks that made them angry and started voting not because they want the award itself but to spite them. Remind you that genshin community has a huge active fan base since it is an online game.
