Bandai Namco has trademarked something called 'Tales of Arise Beyond the Dawn' in European territories, as per a fresh page on the European Union Intellectual Property Office's website. The trademark doesn't give us much information beyond the title, but everyone's already thinking the same things: is Tales of Arise getting an expansion? Maybe even a sequel?
It's impossible to say for sure at this point in time, but it's worth noting that the Japanese publisher previously went on record saying that it had no plans to make story DLC for Tales of Arise, and that the game is a standalone experience. In other words, it wouldn't pave the way for a sequel.
As such, we wouldn't get your hopes up for a continuation just yet. It's possible that Beyond the Dawn is a new version of the existing game, like a complete edition, or a port to a new system. That said, 'Beyond the Dawn' is a name that raises eyebrows — it certainly sounds like some kind of post-credits adventure.
Given that we thoroughly enjoyed Tales of Arise, we're well up for more — but what are your hopes and expectations for Beyond the Dawn? Bring out the Blazing Sword in the comments section below.

Does it even have to be a game? It could be an anime adaptation or story continuation.
@Matroska The trademark is filed under broad video game categories, which suggests it's a game of some kind. Doesn't rule out a mobile spinoff, mind!
So does anymore know when the anime adaption is coming out?
The ending pretty much tied everything up and I was more than ready for it by that point.
Given the concrete ending, I doubt it's a sequel.
Maybe a nintendo switch port
Doubtful it's a sequel based on some of the comments in this article. I still need to play the game myself.
It's either story DLC, a re-released of the game, or a mobile game as some people fear it to be.
I mean, I doubt they had plans to do a sequel to Symphonia either, but they saw how popular it was and made one way later. It would make sense to reuse the engine and assets while the game is current and make another.
I hope it's a sequel and not DLC. I don't even remember how to play it anymore
This game was my most regretted game Purchase in a long time.
The reviews and reception for this one really did me wrong which is rare.
It was. Nothing more than an extremely. Linear, boring game. Shallow combat combined with endless walking around low detail samey environs, and good God.... The amount of horrible anime cut scenes was insane. This was more a bad anime watch than a game.
Probably a DLC expansion or something.
I ought to play this someday. Maybe after I get to the Tales of games (Vesperia, Berseria) I already own, lol.
@KundaliniRising333 100%. Don't forget the sheet amount of superfluous dialogue. Half of the game is just the characters summarising what they've just witnessed. The writers needed their heads banging together. The final dungeons were almost unplayable as you had to stop for a chat every other room. Easily one of the most backward JRPGs I've played
As much as I liked the game, I'm ready to move on to the next cast of characters. Arise's cast doesn't hold a candle to Berseria's cast. Ultimately, I just couldn't get attached or invested much in Arise's characters like I did with other characters in the other Tales of games
Tomizawa said the game won't be getting any story DLC, many times. The game is a complete game so 0.01% chance of this being DLC.
Sequel/Prequel (similar to Zestiria & Berseria?) or Anime most likely.
As a almost 25 year Tales Fan, I am ready for more, especially if they can keep the quality up.
@KundaliniRising333 @AgentMantis Damn I was thinking about getting this game soon but you guys are definitely talking me out of it, I appreciate that input
I'm going to go w/ Switch port b/c JRPG don't seem right for PSVR2.
I thought they said they weren't going to make a sequel.
@xeofate yah I here you and can tell you, it doesn't get better, and the bad parts of it only get worse and longer near endgame.
I almost got scarlet instead but honestly this game single handedly inspired me to avoid jrpgs since. I haven't played a single one thereafter other than code vein.
I'd like to try dragon quest but I just don't know now. There are a ton of just bad ones like tales that seem to get acclaim for those that just like anime I guess to the point that it's hard to know if the reviews are biased by rose tinted glasses.
Definitely waiting for sales on any future new dip into this pond. I paid ful price for Arise deluxe edition, and I regret it completely.
@xeofate The opening few hours is arguably the best bit of the game, the second half is dragged out and the plot goes off the deep end. DQ11 was great, maybe too old school for some tastes though.
@xeofate so is biomutant so bad to not try it free on ps plus? As I am like you, I don't want to waste time on mediocrity.
I hope it addresses some of the growing pains that would obviously come with the Dahnans and Renans coexisting as a single society as equals after the Renans oppressed and enslaved the Dahnans for hundreds of years. The main game kinda...didn't touch on that at the end, and it's not a plot thread I think should've been left dangling.
Great game though, probably my favorite Tales Of, would be down to play a big expansion or even sequel.
Bit torn on this. I enjoyed elements of the main game and kinda wished there was a more satisfying ending, but I found it was way overhyped in the reviews as others have said here. Will wait and see but with so many other things out there to play, I’m not sure.
Loved Arise, would love a sequel that picks up much later once the state of the world at the end isn't so... 'new'.
@Choppaz I want a sequel to happen and at the same time I don't. Perhaps if it's about Rinwell and Law it might work for me.
