The Lords of the Fallen has shown off a brand new trailer, showing off snippets of gameplay for the first time. This action RPG is a sort of reboot, heading to PS5 — though there's no release date as yet.
It looks pretty good; the dark fantasy comes across strong with eerie settings and lots of freaky enemies to slice and dice. Lords of the Fallen, the original, wasn't the greatest game ever made, but this new take on the IP appears to be pretty solid.

It's nice that this type of game is being made. Definitely don't see much of its kind these days.
I loved the original ps4 game which was a ps+ freebie even though it was a bit rough and the combat was a bit basic but it was still a great little game. Have high hopes for this remake. Not sure why you think the names confusing?
@Northern_munkey Some people might think it's the same exact original game just being remastered for PS5?
I'm looking forward to the new iteration, despite never playing my digital copy of the original.
@bozz I'm tired and can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not lol. You mean a Souls game? Because there definitely isn't a shortage of them 😂
My only question is do I get a free upgrade I bought this digital years ago 🤔
Man this looks UBER dark/grisly. Probably a bit too much for me. Still, I will remain open-minded, as someone who enjoys Soulsbornekiring (I know, it's annoying, but I didn't invent it) games overall.
@Uromastryx no, you bought Lords of the Fallen. This is THE Lords of the Fallen haha 😂
@koverby 💩🙄
@Northern_munkey As far as the name, it looks like they added the word “The” and that’s all. Lords of the Fallen vs. The Lords of the Fallen.
Honestly, I’ve always felt that giving a reboot the exact same name (Ex. God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Tomb Raider, Everybody’s Golf, etc…) led to some confusion and evermore having to put the year of release in parentheses and always qualify which version of the game you’re talking about. Maybe adding a subtle “the” to the title or changing a noun to plural or singular as I’ve seen with other games might be a better option. I don’t know. It’s always going to be confusing either way.
the first one was shockingly poor.
need to massively improve thi one.
i can see this being day1 GP
Love a good souls game. Beat the first, second looks a lot more open. Some dungeons, overland stuff. Good dark fantasy. I’m down for it.
just to clarify this isn't a remaster it is a sequel. The first one was a bit rough but I enjoyed it. This one looks very good so far
As someone who has platinumed Elden Ring, Remnant FTA, finished Surge 2, Demon's Souls... I could NEVER get past the very first boss in LotF. It just felt like the game was off in its timing by the sliiiightest bit. And it made it impossibly frustrating to me.
