Like a Dragon: Ishin! is just around the corner, with the late-stage samurai game coming in hot on 21st February. Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku has revealed that it will immortalise some of its celebrity super-fans by including them in-game as obtainable Trooper Cards.
Trooper Cards represent the forces fighting for protagonist Sakamoto Ryoma's revolutionary cause and can be used in combat for various special effects, and some fans have mixed feelings about their inclusion as a mechanic. Actor Rahul Kohli and wrestler Kenny Omega will portray two of six confirmed guest cards, all of which will be made available as free DLC.
Both Kohli and Omega are vocal fans and advocates of Ryo Ga Gotoku's games. In a press release, Kohli stated that "as a huge fan of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s games, I was honoured to be asked to be a guest for the Like a Dragon: Ishin! Trooper Cards. As someone who is emotionally invested in the Like a Dragon story, I’m nervously excited to take on this mantle of being a small part of Ryoma’s journey."
Omega echoed the sentiment, noting that "I’ve been a fan of the Like a Dragon series for years, and to be forever immortalized in Like a Dragon: Ishin!, the newest entry in one of the most iconic game franchise of all time, is surreal."
You can check out clips of the two discussing their inclusion below:
What do you think of the inclusion of Kohli and Omega? Do you have any ideas as to the remaining four will be? Let us know in the comments section below.

Insane but cool. Kenny’s a great wrestler and they have previous with NJPW guys in previous games. Rahul is a bit more random but he’s clearly a mega fan and he’s a decent guy all round.
Wow Raul, haven't seen him since the old funhause days.
I don't know if I'm gonna like this with how they're adding stuff like this. Probably gonna skip on it.
Oh that’s awesome. Great guys.
@RawnDawn he's fantastic in Midnight Mass and Haunting of Bly Manor.
Funhaus is where I learned of him too
ra-who what.
wouldn't it be more fun if they had wwe fighters in it.
Always good to see more Rahul. If you haven't seen Midnight Mass yet go watch it! He's a massive gamer and Warhammer fan too.
Rahul is a class actor and comes across as a decent bloke. Glad to see him pop up anywhere. As ant says, midnight mass is very much worth the watch if you havent seen it. He's brilliant in iZombie as well if you want to go further back.
Loses points for being a liverpool fan but everyone has flaws i suppose.
@themightyant I was gonna say, he's amazing in Midnight Mass and as he paints Warhammer that's extra points from me!
Not a fan of Kenny, but it was only a matter of time before he would be in a Yakuza game. Yakuza 6 had a bunch of NJPW wrestlers like Tanahashi, Naito & Okada.
Omega’s signature & finisher moves are literally gaming references (V-trigger & One Winged Angel Slam).
@AndyKazama I haven't watched those two series yet, but they are definitely on my backlog list.
