Developer Bungie has taken the uber-popular MMO shooter Destiny 2 offline as it investigates reports of lost player progress following routine maintenance. Players reported that progress had been lost in regard to Triumphs, Seals and Catalysts specifically.
Currently offline for around 12 hours now, Bungie has provided regular updates as it seeks to rectify the issue. The most recent update estimates servers will remain offline until 3 or 4 AM PST or 11 AM or 12 PM GMT on 25th January, although that timeline remains subject to change.
A massive game like Destiny 2 going down for so long isn't something we see every day. We hope the issues are resolved swiftly and that Guardians can return to doing what they love best: complaining about balance in both PVP and PVE.
Were you planning on booting up Destiny 2 today? Do you think the issues will be resolved in time for Lightfall? Await further instructions in the comments section below.

Lightfall releases on February 28th not in January
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk My mistake, updated
@Grimwood That makes no sense.
Given the bewildering amount of stuff in D2 I’m amazed anyone can keep track of anything. I loved it when it first came out but now it’s incomprehensible trying to get back into it. The onboarding is atrocious.
This must be the work of Dinklebot.
All those "wizard from the moon" jokes could not be left unanswered!
@z0d15g0d kinda does tbh
That's what you get with always online live service games 🤷♂️
@Cherip-the-Ripper Thats like saying eating chicken is the equivalent to eating turkey.
