Publisher 505 Games has announced an enhanced version of its cult hit sci-fi adventure game, named Journey to the Savage Planet: Employee of the Month Edition. The title is a mouthful, but it's a straightforward release, heading to PS5 on 14th February, 2023.
Employee of the Month Edition, which was a Stadia exclusive until the service's recent closure, is the same wacky game you might've played on PS4, only a little bigger and better. It includes various perks over the last-gen version, such as "the Hot Garbage DLC, bonus conversations with Martin Tweed, 4K support with Performance and Graphics options, and an enhanced photo mode". If you do own the PS4 version of the game, you'll be able to nab Employee of the Month Edition on PS5 for free upon release.
If you're not aware of the game, it's a silly first-person action game, in which you play a downtrodden employee of a nefarious corporation, sent to a strange planet to scout it for potential human settlement. The result is an easy-going experience about exploring open-ended environments, scouting info on local wildlife, and fending off nasty aliens.

I spent around 25hrs in couple of days playing it and really enjoyed it. However, I just put it aside and didn't play since, but if the free upgrade also apply to ps+ given version then I will be happy to jump back and finish from where I started. If the save file will not be affected just because it's an upgraded version and not just update to the base game.
I tried it through PS Plus a few months back and it was choppy to the point of not being worth playing. If it was 60FPS then I’d maybe give it another go.
@Bamila looks like it does if you search it in the ps store
Il give it a go but im hoping they added matchmaking to the coop or at least couch coop by now XD hate when games assume uou have mates who also want to play a particular game
Great little fun colorful alien fps with exploration (emphasis on the "fun" part of the equation, it is genuinely funny, especially in its art design). Great to get the PS5 version for free.
Is it confirmed you get it for free even if you don't own the DLC on PS4?
good underrated game
Played this first on the Switch. Fun game of exploration, puzzles and eating goo. The local wildlife are slightly savage, and you may be eaten or digested at times. Ancient ruins, aliens with gas, and you even get to ride on rails. Open world er, no more like open islands that float..
Spent quite a few hours on this one with the kids during lockdown 2020. Good times.
Surprised this is even a thing. I thought the dev was bought by Amazon and closed almost immediately.
@TripleKing333 The developer was bought by google then was closed immediately… But Google actually felt bad, so they gave the IP back to a new studio founded by the original creators.
I wonder if they’ll fix the connection issues with this. My friend and I played it through to completion but not without the game kicking us to the menu literally no less than 3 times a session. Would have went for the platinum had it not done that every time
Loved this game. Got the platinum on PS4 but never played the dlc. Might give this a replay if it has a separate trophy list.
One of the better games out there. Hoping for a sequel. Kenny from Kenny vs Spenny is in there. That surprised me.
Enjoyed the game, but it was more of a 3D platformer than seeming you was on an alien plant.
@AverageGamer Thanks, forgot which massive tech company did the deed. Good to know it wasn’t all a complete waste
I wonder if this will apply to the PS Plus version as well?
Ahh, lovely jubbly!…cracking game this, looking forward to the upgrade!
@AverageGamer They should feel bad but that goes for more big publishers if you take them out and you have a IP that is never going to be used license it out or just sell it back.
@Ken_Kaniff @nessisonett @Bamila Fingers crossed the PS Plus version is eligible.
Otherwise I'll just wait for the game to be dirt cheap during a future PSN sale.
It looks like the PS5 upgrade is available only for PS Plus Premium subscribers, and only to stream. At least, I see no option to download it.
