Miami Marlins centre fielder Jazz Chisholm will bring some flare to MLB The Show 23’s cover. This year’s star – born in the Bahamas – is part of a completely revamped visual theme for the release, which is seeing developer San Diego Studio promoting the title with bright colours and jubilant music. We’re really enjoying the summery style.
Pre-orders will open across PS5 and PS4 – as well as rival platforms Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch – on 6th February, ahead of a launch date on 28th March. While there are no real gameplay details at the time of publication, the Sony developer tends to host weekly streams in the run up to release, so all will be revealed in due course.

This gives me the impression there's a State of Play in February/March. Sony said there's 3 live service games in April 2022 - March 2023 and 2 have been revealed so far (MLB The Show 22 and MLB The Show 23) which suggests another announcement is inbound soon.
@Grumblevolcano has to be helldiver2 since that trailer leaked last year, so hopefully we hear something soon.
@Americansamurai1 oh man that would be awesome, Helldivers was the game I played online the most the first year I had my ps4
Not to sound like a basement dwelling video game nerd that knows nothing about mainstream sports, television, or anything going on outside Directs/SoPs/E3, but.......
When did the Florida Marlins become the Miami Marlins? This is the first time I've ever heard that....
This is such a bizarre choice of player. No doubt he’s talented but come on. There are legit stars who haven’t graced that cover yet
@Grumblevolcano
Mlb the show has had its own video releases over at least the past 4-5 years. They do a dev video usually once a week or twice with gameplay. No state of play. Dont think sport games were ever part of one
And on GamePass yet again. Well, it’ll save me a buy.
@CWill97 Couldn’t agree more.
@NEStalgia 2012
With a PS4 release it means it’ll look exactly the same as it had the past 5 years….shame
@Ahoyman wow, hadn't a clue. I still haven't figured out the dodgers aren't the Brooklyn team anymore. And I also haven't figured out Brooklyn is no longer Little Italy and serves avocado toast with a side of iPhone.... Where can I opt out of the 21st century?
what's different from all these sporting games that get released every year? Are their such massive changes that make it worth playing full price for these games each year? Seems odd to me and much like a money grab. I'm not a fan of these types of games and I'm sure they are great, just not for me. Love me some baseball don't get me wrong, but are these just cash grabs or is it really worth the price of admission every year?
Expecting the same graphics & animations since the PS3 era — only difference on the new consoles is 4k60. Didn't even care to play for free on Game Pass. Likely another PASS for me...
@Germs73 Yep, as long as Sony is supporting last-gen with game releases this will be the case. San Diego Studio has been doing the bare minimum each and every year where "updating" this series is concerned; they have no incentive to do so because there's no competition in the marketplace. It's a real shame that corporations invariably veer away from genuine passion toward phoning it in and becoming more and more about the $$$. MLB: The Show has become baseball's version of the Madden franchise.
Oh yeah… jazz Chisholm! Said no one in England 😂. Rounders!!! 😭
