Few franchises have the endurance and adaptability of Minecraft. Case in point: Minecraft Legends shares many touchstones with the mainline series, like its quirky sense of humour and iconic art design, but is looking like it might have the chops to be a super fun competitive strategy game in its own right.
We got a couple of new trailers today, some more gameplay (above) and a look at the titles PVP mode (below), which should prove enticing to those of a more tactical mindset. Fought on procedurally generated battle maps, players will lead battalions of blocky little blokes into battle, and cooperation is key. Resources are shared across an entire team, so careful coordination will be required to come out victorious and can be used to build impressive fortifications.
Interestingly, the somewhat menacing Piglins, which serve as the antagonists in the single-player campaign, will be present in multiplayer and act as a kind of wild card to liven things up, attacking both sides and adding an element of unpredictability to the equation.
We also got a release date, too. Minecraft Legends marches onto PS5 and PS4 on 18th April. What do you think of what we have seen so far? Build a response in the comments section below.

I had no interest in Minecraft until I recently played it in VR. It’s a shame that MS do not want to invest in VR, as I don’t want to play it now unless I’m there.
What??? A Microsoft game on a PlayStation???
No interest, but happy for the fans that are excited!
