Respawn Entertainment has delayed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor by six weeks to 28th April 2023. Announced in a post on Twitter, the studio says it needs a bit more time to "hit the Respawn quality bar" and achieve a high level of polish. The PS5 sequel is content complete, but a final round of bug fixes is required and this delay will allow for an even better player experience according to the tweet.
"In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule — Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th."
The game was originally set to release one week before Resident Evil 4, but now it'll launch on the same day as Dead Island 2 and compete for attention with Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores.
When Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order came out for PS4, it wasn't in the best of states with lots of glitches affecting the overall experience. Respawn Entertainment will be looking to circumvent a similar launch with this added time for further bug fixes. Will you still be playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor? Wait another six weeks in the comments below.

I was surprised it was coming so soon to begin with
Man today was the day of poor news for gaming. Jedi Survivor delayed, Rumbleverse closed down, APM closed down, BFM cancelled, classic Xbox games are beginning to get delisted.
I mean although delays should be a thing, more recently they’ve been a sign of troubled development and management. However I don’t think that’s the case with Jedi Survivor, it’s not being pushed before some holiday window and it doesn’t seem extreme enough to show signs of the entire thing being a mess like other delayed games.
These companies really should think of a date and then just add three months.
I have so much to play that I’m fine with that
I have a big backlog anyway lol,it'll be fantastic come April all gd
That’s a shame as I was looking forward to playing this on my week off. Guess I’ll just have to play Resident Evil 4 instead!
See, this just makes me more likely to buy Hogwarts at launch now, plenty of time to slow play that without the urge to jump right into Jedi: Survivor.
It's a game I want to get early, so any bug fixes are very welcome. Hope this is the final delay now, it seems almost ready to go, but they are learning from mistakes, theirs and others about releasing anyway and hoping the day one patch is good enough
I only played the first one for a brief window, no more than an hour. It was a fun time, but I just never went back.
I did watch someone play it through to completion, and it looked like a good time. I might just gift them a copy under the condition I can watch them play it.
Shame but hey, now se can all focus on RE4 remake (if it doesn't get delayed as well)
Always two there are, no more, no less. A release date, and a delayed release date.
Oh EA, why do you miss an opportunity to release it on May the 4th?)
Still haven’t finished Fallen Order so this gives me some more time.
I’ll probably still be knee-deep in Hogwarts Legacy in March anyway 🙂
You want this, don’t you? Delayed, the hate is swelling in you now. Take your internet tirade! Give into your anger! With each passing moment, you make yourself more EA’s servant.
Nooooooooooo!
Well that sucks.
New release date same as Dead Island 2.
Wonder if the release of RE 4 also has anything to do with it then. Be tough competition, wouldn't be surprised if they learned something from Titanfall 2's release smack bang between Battlefield and CoD.
That freaking sucks. That was the big game for March. Damn it.
Still excited. Got lots of games to play, I’ll get round to it.
@awp69 Haha likewise, still plugging through it just now, just love force shovin stormtroopers off cliffs
@kungfumongoose this is Star Wars though. If anything, I think this one will sell more than RE4
No complaints here! RE4 is out very close to the original date so I can focus on that. If Hogwarts is decent I'll also pick that up.
"No thanks, bro!" - Leon S. Kennedy ... and Jedi Survivor on challenging the legendary looking Resident Evil 4 Remake
Have we seen any gameplay of this yet? It's out in a couple of months, but I don't recall seeing any!
I this point... Why not make it just 6 days longer for it to come out on May the 4th?
That's great news. Looking forward to a polished end result (or at least a few less post launch patches).
That actually works for me. Was trying to pick between this and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on the 3rd.
Hogwarts > Wo Long > Jedi > FFXVI... Now they line up. I am set for a while.
@jrt87 played the first on the ps4 when it released and had no problems.
@Vovander im waiting too but this month we are getting some good games to keep me busy they should push it to may the 4th is only fair.
A little disappointing but whatever... I'm looking forward to the game, but with work and other life things I don't have tons of free time. This delay should be just long enough that I'll have Like a Dragon: Ishin completed first.
same day as dead island 2? dafuq
I will still be playing Hogwarts so all good 😀
May the six weeks of crunch be with you!
Delays suck, but this is such a huge blessing. Take the time ya need, Respawn. There are plenty of games coming between now and then that will keep me busy, many of which I haven't even started or purchased yet.
@DimBeau they probably thought about releasing May the Fourth but that’s only 1 week before Zelda, basically every game is going to want to steer well clear of that.
No worries Respawn. Take all the time you need. March will be dedicated to Trails to Azure anyway. Very excited for this one!
This better not make Dead Island 2 move their release date.
All in all, good to hear. Would’ve been nice to play over my spring break and it does make end of April into May look pretty packed for my interests, but if working out the kinks means a smoother play on day one then I’m all for it…
…That and I’m still working on my Kingdom Hearts binge. No way I’ll be done by March😵💫
@DarthKiwi @Nightcrawler71 @Ravix Same plan here! This just gives me more time to try and 100%/platinum Hogwarts, before moving onto Star Wars.
As for the other February and March games, will be waiting for significant discounts on all of them.
Really enjoying the first game in this months PS+ so am looking forward to seeing more of this. It’s definitely a game I wouldn’t get on release though.
