If you’re a PlayStation-only owner, then you’re going to want big things from The Crew Motorfest, officially announced by Ubisoft for PS5 and PS4 earlier today. Due out in 2023, the open world arcade racer will return to the series’ roots, meaning the aquatic and aerial disciplines from its predecessor appear to be out. This time the focus is on four wheels, although there’ll be plenty of variety: from mudrunners to sports car, there’s lots to look forward to. Could PS5 and PS4 have a Forza Horizon rival at last?
“The Crew Motorfest has settled down in one of the most breath-taking and vibrant places on Earth: the island of O‘ahu in the Hawaiian archipelago,” the press release teases. “This is the perfect playground for players to have fun together in with their vehicles: racing through the city streets of Honolulu, going down the ashy volcano slopes, adventuring deep in the lush rainforest, drifting along the curvy mountain roads, or just chilling on the sunny beach.”
An Insider Program will open from 1st February, and you can register your interest through here. “This closed test, split into different phases, will help the development team gather feedback to ensure an optimal player experience at launch and beyond,” the blurb explains. “The first phase of the Insider Program will be limited to PC in order to allow for quick iterations. During the final phases, this closed test will open up to consoles.”
There’s no firm release date right now, but as alluded to, the title’s due out later this year – and will only expand beyond launch. “Motorfest will allow car lovers to fulfil their ultimate action driving bucket list through a series of tailor-made races, themed events, and other unique challenges,” the French publisher says. “Whatever your favourite car style, The Crew Motorfest has something for everyone.”
We’re a big fan of bright and breezy arcade racers, but they’ve been in frighteningly short supply on the PS5 and PS4. Here's hoping this one scratches that itch once and for all.

Good trailer, I like the bright summer setting and oversaturated colours. Looking forward to learning more!
Sounds like Riders Republic with cars. Sound idea though, my nephew will be all over this.
Please lbe good!
Liked the 1st one ok.
Input lag has made the 2nd instalment unplayable for me
Day one, enjoyed the first 2 and I'm sure this will be a great time as well!
Not really a rival since it’ll also be on Xbox. Just sayin’
PS4! It’s DOA for me and when will next Gen begin! PS4 seems to be for life
Not much to go off of with such a short teaser, but if it’s like Forza Horizon then I’m definitely interested
YES! Fully hyped for this one now.
Got to be one of the best games on the horizon now (I even impressed myself with that pun).
@AdamNovice I would enjoy the c**p out of a game like that, Riders Republic was a huge laugh.
Looks promising. Not much to go on though. Because the Crew 2 has been supported well, it might be on to go early doors on.
@Loamy the art style is sick , im a sucker for aesthetics
Looks pretty good from the very small trailer.
If it's even 1/2 as good as Forza horizon then count me in.
I own both a PS5 and a Series X but I do spend the majority of my time on PlayStation. The one thing the PS does seem to lack is a good open world racer.
Again difficult to tell from a short trailer but hopefully this can potentially fill that void
PS4 and Xbox One as platforms ... can we ditch those already?
@GigaGaia
Agreed, I do find it very frustrating that games are being potentially held back by trying to shoehorn in a last gen version.
It was just about acceptable when the ps5 first launched but now over 2 years down the road the PS4 should be left where it belongs (in the past)
Please be good. I liked the first 2, but I really want a competitor to forza horizon on the PS.
It being cross Gen is just an absolute no for me in 2023.
Will it be PS5's answer to Forza Horizon ?
Spoiler alert : no, it won't
The Crew 2 was dire, absolutely dire
Do Test Drive Unlimited?
registered, thanks for the heads up PS!
But really, PSVR2... come on - just make it happen Ubi!
Even game titles aren't original anymore. Ivory Tower was founded by former Eden Games developers (Test Drive Unlimited) so hopefully that is a good thing. But an OG Xbox/PS4 version ??? There were so many issues with the Crew 2 ...
How is this gonna be the answer for PS to "rival' Forza when its Multiplatform?
What I always wished GT could make as a Mode aside the strict restricted courses.
Looks interesting but the handling/physics weren't great on the first two games in the series, hopefully this has been addressed.
I'd love a new Motorstorm instead tbh.
Remaster the 3 main PS3 Motorstorm games and then make a brand new 4th game. I'm happy for the PSP and Vita games to be ignored. That is all.
I'm not a fan of racing Sims but I do like some Forza horizon. Unless this is added to a monthly bundle though I don't think I'd bother as Forza already scratches that itch with out any additional costs.... It's got to be harder for games going up against established titles on GP or PS++ with subscription model now firmly set
