Picking up nioh 2 remastered and continue my new game plus playthru on there and can finish up the DLC also, only thing that I want to get on the sale tbh
Just picked up nfs unbound hope it's better then the last one
@Ajfennell77 i enjoy NFS Unbound. 95hrs in. Story mode is not so long, around 20ish hours but main part I do is Multiplayer
Dove in and picked up Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe for £9.89.
Was also tempted by Cult of the Lamb and Inscryption.
Lastly still debating Elden Ring for £34.99 but have plenty to play before that, including Sekiro! Also can't decide whether to buy on PS5 or XSX (slightly better under VRR) where it's also £34.99 for a little longer, till 20 Jan.
Decisions, decisions.
@PenguinLtd Rift Apart is so much better. I didn't love the 2016 game either, but loved RA so much.
Hmm looks good...idk what game i want lol
How is Returnal now with all the patches? The difficulty turned me off when it was first released.
@Reveluv Yeah it's quite fun indeed in finishing it up great fun.
@whitejessegpfc
I was similarly turned off by the difficulty, but co-op mode has really made things much easier. Just the fact you can be revived is a huge plus.
@TheCollector316 I actually thought the game was harder with a partner. I tried to play some with a friend and they definitely add more health to enemies/bosses. Additionally, upon revival you lose all your power ups unless they changed that?
Since I got PS Plus Now / Extra I dont see a point in buying games.
From big PS first party devs there is only Rift apart missing, all others were available so I'm just gonna wait
@PenguinLtd probably one of the best looking games I've ever played. Especially with a 120 Hz display the 4k VRR mode is insane. Runs at 40 fps but the frame pacing is so smooth that it feels incredibly fluid given the fps target. Also, I loved it. It may not be my favorite Ratchet game but this is me being nitpicky.
@whitejessegpfc I found Returnal harder in the middle of the game but you can pass a point where you get consistently better gear and your skill level is higher than the end game challenge. I beat it in around 25hrs I think and I'm not the most skilled gamer by any stretch, but I would say it is generally a hard game. Hope that helps lol.
The count is 4963 items on sale, WOW! Just shows how huge the catalogue is.
@whitejessegpfc nothing has changed, stay way imo
@FatalBubbles
The game is still as you describe, but having to start over is what kills a game for me. The co-op mode further reduces the chances of that happening.
@Futureshark I agree, the sale is pretty generous and lots of pickings for everyone to play
If Midnight suns is that cheap already, It should be bargain bin prices by the spring sale... I'll wait!
@TheCollector316 Totally understandable. I quit and tried it again co-op and found it harder but managed to beat it solo after coming back to it. It’s a very unforgiving rogue like.
@PenguinLtd I thought the new game was much better. Everything from controls to graphics was 10/10 for me.
Was worth fullprice at release day so I'm sure it's worth 35 bucks today.
So Mirrors Edge? Is it worth it or should I instead take that change for something else?
Tempted by Rift Apart but there’s a voice saying ‘that’ll be on PS Plus Extra soon’
@PenguinLtd
Not my favourite in the series TBH but still a great game.
No discount for Nier Automata since 2021
Returnal and Rift Apart are still my top 2 PS5 exclusives.
mirrors edge is only $2?! aaah i’m never gonna finish my backlog & now that i’m on PC now ain’t no way i’d even make it halfway .
It's crazy how most of those deals are cheaper in dollars, yet the pound is worth more. Ratchet and clank is £35 on the UK store yet on the US store its £24.39 when converted. Might have to get me an US account on my playstation 5 as well.
Is Dirt 5 worth £8.
I don't have any racers yet for PS5.
@El-Terrible Dirt 5 is definitely worth £8, it's more arcadey than other racing games but I liked it and I usually don't play racers, decent career mode, also has a creation mode where you can create your own tracks and games or download other people's creations.
A lot of these will be in even more cheaper in 3 to 8 months. Take a game like Arkham Knights for example, will be £20 or less in 6 months time?. Fed up of mentioning backlog all the time. Extra being as good as it is, is the culprit that makes backlog even worse
One Piece World Seeker Deluxe Edition for £7.79; Catherine Full Body for £8.74; Cat Quest 2 for £2.39…some decent deals. Not the lowest some have been, but OK.
@UltimateOtaku91 Cheers mate
Pulling the trigger on Alan Wake and yeah, Midnight Suns might be $20 in 2-3 months at this rate.
@themightyant I picked up Cult of the Lamb and started it a couple of days ago - highly recommended. Describing it as a Hades/Animal Crossing hybrid doesn't do it justice.
@RunGMhx I'm in the minority of people that like Catalyst more than the original. Still love the original, but the sequels parkour is such an improvement. Story us a but predictable and some characters are a bit annoying but for less than £2 you're more than getting your money's worth.
@Beerheadgamer82 Im just showing down with buying its no use im busy with Rachet and Clank then I'll have to go play GOW/GOW Ragnarok which I have not bought yet/Last of Us 2/Last of Us remake/ Ghost of Thushima/Nioh 1and 2/ Horizon Forbidden West/ Death Stranding im going to work on my backlog first.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst for less than £2 is a no brainer. It's not tremendous or anything but it's probably a solid 7 and worth ten hours or whatever if you've got nothing planned.
@Flaming_Kaiser I usually always priorities the games I know I'm gonna enjoy the most first and then work on the rest of backlog afterwards, doesnt always turn out this way. Right now I'm trying to complete Metro Exodus from Extra plus its two story expansions and finish off Dying Light 2 before finally starting Plague Tale Requiem and The Witcher3. The trouble is though I've got so many other games installed in between which becomes a mess in the head as to where to start next. As new must plays get released all the time it's only natural for backlog to always exist. Trophies always extend the time played which doesn't help with a backlog and just finding the time in general can sometimes put the backlog even further behind. As Annoying as a backlog can be it's so much better to have loads of games than it is to just have a few
@James_42 Wonderdul thanks!
Tempted by a few including rift apart.
Has anyone played Riders Republic? As an avid weekend warrior mtn biker I am curious to see if the over the top formula in that game may be a good time. Yet, Ubisoft at the helm always has the likelihood ovmf being garbage so I'm hesitant to give it a go.
That's the lowest price that I've seen on Ratchet & Clank, but I really want it on disc, so I'm going to hold out.
I picked Assassin's Creed Origins with the dlc.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah, at this point I might wait a whole year or two on purchases and catch up on backlog. I already had a huge prior-gens backlog, and now even this generation’s backlog is getting unmanageable, with 2023 looking to bury me outright.
@Beerheadgamer82 Agreed, It’s a good problem to have. I’ve actually taken to making lists just to help prioritize.
@UltimateOtaku91 unfortunately you'll need a US credit card to do so as they've removed some of the workarounds to get store access from other countries. If anyone has any other workarounds that still work ill gladly be enlightened though!
Have the same situation in Australia, full price games are 20% cheaper in the states
@whitejessegpfc I feel like the problem with Returnal is less about difficulty and more about bad RNG. Don't get me wrong it is hard but as long as I have good enough RNG outcomes to beat the first biome, I beat the game every time. You can usually tell within 10 minutes if a run is going to be viable and abort if not.
@doctommaso You know it gets so overwhelming I don't even know where to start at this point at that makes gaming not that great. It giving me more stress then its relieving and thats not why I game.
@Beerheadgamer82 I start with the shorter easy games now have a chance to even finish them. I started with Demon Souls on the PS5 160 hours for the platinum but i didnt need to rush it. Now I'm fighting against the amount of games so I'm almost done with Rachet and Clank awsome game. I Platinumed Bugsnax before that what a great pallet cleanser.
I'm waiting for Spirit of Sanada or Blue Reflection to go on sale but no luck yet.
@whitejessegpfc I enjoyed Returnal. I wouldn't say that made it easier adding coop just another way to take on the game. I am very bad at hard games so much so that for souls games I usually have to way over lvl my stats to beat many areas. Returnal I feel rewards greed to a point and like most rogue likes you just need those good drops to happen once to beat a level.
I'd be tempted to buy demon's souls if there was a demo heard good things but I'm not into souls games so I'd need to play it before deciding
@UltimateOtaku91 they care more about the US market they're always shafting us like the price increase that conveniently didn't effect the US
@PenguinLtd I enjoyed Ratchet and Clank 2016 but Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is truly a next level next gen game. It's Disney Pixar gorgeous with Ray tracing reflections & gorgeous 4K visuals with smooth 60fps gameplay! It's also got a fantastic story that really makes you want to keep playing. Highly recommend for anyone who has a PS5 👍
One game I picked up during this sale that I'm extremely glad I purchased even though it got railroaded for being 30fps is Gotham Knights. This game is absolutely phenomenal on the PS5. It looks great and it plays even better than I expected especially because the internet made such a fuss about the game running at 30fps.
Best thing about Gotham Knights is the story. It's full of amazing characters with complex stories that make you want to keep playing to find out what happens next. Each of the super heroes (Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and Red Hood) has their own unique ability but what's even cooler is each character has unique story beats that apply to them so it encourages you to play as different heroes which is something I really enjoy. I'm about 20 hour into the game & I freaking love it ✌️
@UltimateOtaku91 It's because US prices don't include sales tax unlike our prices. A £30 game for us would be £25 if it wasn't for the included tax. There'll still often be some difference but not as much as it seems.
@UltimateOtaku91 I hear you completely. I have fallen prey a few times to thinking that a game on the US store would be cheaper than on the SA store, most recently with Sekiro in this sale. Still not sure if it is surprising or super-annoying, especially after the hoops one has to jump through to get the US version...
@Matroska Yes, I always forget about that element. This always catches me out. I have such a backlog of games that I don't buy them often, but it is annoying that I forget about this when I do...
@maybemaybemaybe My workaround has been to create a US PSN account, and then buy PSN vouchers to buy games. Other than a US credit card or PayPal (don't know why it refuses to work; maybe because the PayPal email does not match the PSN account), this is as good as it may come, I think. Because that PSN account's primary PlayStation is the same as your own account, you can download it through the new account and play it on your own account, without any issues. At least that is how it works on PS4. Not migrating to the 5. Have way too many games on the 4 (400+), and I left a number of games untouched on the 3 as well...
@oURSiSaBLE unfortunately Amazon doesn't allow foreign cards to purchase PSN Gift Cards either unfortunately. Might have to see if there's an alternate source easier to purchase from.
Yes, I have tried that as well. I have bought PSN vouchers from sites like G2A, only a few days ago. Just note that the US store prices are exclusive of tax, and that added to the exchange rate prices for the vouchers themselves, may result in those games being more expensive than your regions. But it is a great option for when different sales may be running...
@themightyant I would say if you generally just want games to play and are happy to play pretty much anything telhen series x and gamepass for sure. Excellent value for money. If you prefer single player story driven then ps5.
