UK Sales Charts: God of War Ragnarok Dethroned in Familiar Top 10

Buy something else, please

The UK's physical games chart goes through phases of barely moving from week to week, and we're in one of those slumps right now. In terms of PlayStation, there's not an awful lot to report; God of War Ragnarok's run at number one has been cut off by FIFA 23, meaning the pair swap positions at the top.

Meanwhile Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 remains steady in third place. The only other game on PS5 and PS4 in the top 10 is Grand Theft Auto V, which has clawed its way back up into 10th place. New release One Piece Odyssey has debuted in 14th, selling the majority of its physical copies on PS5.

Nothing notable has released since last year, so of course the top ten is going to be evergreens. I'm guessing we'll see some movement in the charts when stuff like Forspoken, Fire Emblem Engage, etc. releases later in the month.

Curious if Fire Emblem or Forspoken will top the charts. I hope both of them get at least a week at #1 before Hogwarts no doubt takes the top spot as the first safely selling blockbuster this year.

@Ralizah "evergreens" is a great description for these . Always boggles my mind how they manage to sell so consistently. I mean FIFA at least releases a new game every year (debatable, from what I understand, but "new" enough that actual FIFA fans will buy it again every year) but it amazes me that there are still people buying GTA V in significant numbers

I want to buy it but I'm so far behind I just wait. The way they handled CE and SE also made it a lot easier to wait. A simple steelcase behind a pay wall of a CE with not even a physical copy added Sony you made my choices a lot easier.

I think in part they hit such critical mass that there are always new gamers coming into gaming. Every kid that gets a switch gets at least one of Mario Kart, Minecraft, Animal Crossing, Pokemon. On PS/XB it's GTA, COD and sports games.

I look at my niece and nephew and they, and their friends, both did this with their Switch and when I gave them my PS4 it was GTA, COD, Fortnite etc. All the usual (Evergreen) suspects

@somnambulance Three Houses managed to stay #1 in the UK top ten for at least two weeks after release, and pre-orders for Engage seem to be outstripping those for Three Houses, at least in Japan, so I'd say Fire Emblem has a pretty good chance to nab the top spot.

@danlk1ng There's a privileged minority of ultra-mainstream titles which are so ubiquitous that they're the go-tos for people buying new consoles. It seems like GTA V has probably caught on as a PS5 killer app now, somehow.

For reference, GTA V has sold over 170 MILLION copies.

I was going to facepalm at GTAV and FIFA, but TBH I facepalm harder at that terrible, terrible Animal Crossing game being up there. It's an affront to the series.

The 👑 is back in the nr1 spot
After actually playing ultimate team in a current title I'm amazed by the amount of people still buying it

Does anyone know what the not FIFA 24 is gona be called? I can't play it I loose the dude I'm controlling lol just wondering if its been finalized.
Geez GTA 5 still in the top 10 I forgot it has some multiplayer on it. I dive in and out of the campaign. tried the multiplayer years ago never lit my fuse.
