The game looks awsome but after watching the Jimquisition it made me think and I cant support this lady in any form.

I didn't know how bad she was but I cant give her a dime in royalty's. But have fun everyone if you want to play it. We all have to make our own choices.

A YouTube channel I don't agree with everything what is said but the points brought up are really solid with a lot of things. But i dont want to derail the conversation and make people feel bad.

That's a pretty cool promotion for them to do.

But yeah Hogwarts Legacy made me appreciate Harry Potter much more than when I was a kid. I'm already about a fourth of the way through the first book.

Ended up doing the whole tasks thing for the avatars figuring that’s how you enter the sweepstakes. Found out after that I can’t enter cause I live in Canada 😂 not surprised given most contests exclude us, so for any other Canadians it’s only for UK/US residents unfortunately. Free avatars though soo

Hogwarts Legacy is an excellent game which ironically, given all the crap slung at it by a very few, features the most diverse and inclusive cast of characters I have seen in a video game.

A “must buy” imho!

@YourNameHere I saw some journalists and well-known Twitter vultures claim that the game's cast is either "too diverse" or "suspiciously diverse". If anyone else said that about any other game, there would be countless articles and tweets making fun of that person for saying something like that. Total hypocrisy.

There are many things that we use every day that are manufactured in some of the most oppressive states on earth.

I understand your position and get where you’re coming from. But the truth is that it is unavoidable. Unless one was to completely separate theirselves from the modern world entirely, moving out to the middle of nowhere Alaska or Canada and living a 19th century lifestyle, you will use or enjoy things created or manufactured by people or companies that do things that are offensive or downright criminal.

I’m typing this reply out on an iPhone 12. Built by Foxconn in mainland China. A total police state where people are literally disappeared into “reeducation” camps in the countryside for political “mistakes.” Where you are worked and beaten until you have learned from said “mistake” and are finally allowed to return to public life.

It sucks. And I hate it. But it’s literally unavoidable. The vast majority of alternative smartphones are built in similar factories in similar countries with similar legal punishments.

My point is that I don’t agree with the things Rowling said. But I don’t understand the absolute hatred people have shown her fan base, the people who merely enjoy works based around her created property. What she said was wrong. But every single person who has criticized the HP fan base for wanting this game is guilty of the exact same “crime.” And that I don’t understand. None of us can claim the moral high ground. Not with the way the First World works. We are all guilty in one way or another.

@Flaming_Kaiser you're hardly going to get an unbiased picture of what the fuss is with what JKR said by listening to Jim Stephanie Stirling.

Why not read JK's tweets for yourself, read her explanation of why she said what she said, and make your own mind up whether she's the hateful monster she's being portrayed as and she if you think she deserves to have absolutely everything that she's linked to boycotted and cancelled because of her opinion.

Forming an opinion given to you by Jimquisition will only give you the most extreme version of events from one side of the argument.

@Loamy agree with all that. What is happening with the fanatical and unrational application of understanding from, I stress, all sides is worrying, especially when it becomes doctrine that demands conformity.

JK gets a lot of flack and not only from the Jimquisition. I understand his point you cant say its bad and keep supporting the lady it's a little hypocrite.

And i can understand with the extreme political parties around who say horrible things I can totally agree that people get scared and uncomfortable.

@GodofCapcom these are the one i know about and Ubisoft is also one of the developers I stay away from. Maybe you are right but it's my choice and i stand by it and i am not saying anyone has to do what I do.

@OrtadragoonX I have no hatred towards anyone. But i can understand that someone like JSS gets a little uneasy with the latest political parties and their terrifying aprouch towards transpeople. And as a target which he is I can understand he gets mad about support thats only support when it does not take any effort.

You do all realise she hasn't actually done anything and its all hear say, or based off a twitter mistake she did while researching her new book.

Its funny how the Internet can get a couple of minor extremists spin a great story and the entire Internet does against someone.

The fact remains the only actual thing she has done was trying to protect some womens rights as some guys had demanded they were trans and used the womens toilets, to abuse their rights.

We are all good at accepting new genders and the 1billion different ones people want to be but forget that majority of people have rights to as a man and as a woman, which many seem to be forgetting.

@Bez87 no what he has done is state his own opinion without forcing it on anyone and without getting all defensive about it whilst not being insulting either. I found his reply to be respectful to others who dont share the same view as i myself dont think what rowling said was wrong and i dont think she is transphobic at all but there are people that frequent push square who dont respect others views and will always try and use the comments sections to further their own one sided views without respecting others..those are the people on both sides that i have a particular disdain for..

@Flaming_Kaiser the only thing I would say around "The group of people she is with" - is what choice was she left with? JKR was the darling of the left for around a decade, only to be eviscerated the moment she expressed sentiments that seemed to be coming from a sincere place but were deemed too offensive to be tolerated.

If a bunch of people won't even hear you out without feeling the need to publicly distance themselves from your views, would you stick around? IMO the increasing association of JKR with more and more right wing people is at least partly down the left's (or rather, the very vocal left, not necessarily the quiet majority) inability to have a reasonable conversation around the issues she raised without everyone already being in agreement with each other - which kind of defeats the whole point of a conversation..

I don't necessarily agree with everything JKR has said, especially if some of the more extreme things she's reportedly said are true (antisemitism etc), I just think you shouldn't be surprised that someone ends up getting into bed with "the other side" when you try so hard to evict them from your own

It's really sad that every media outlet has to put some ridiculous disclaimer up around articles based on this game.

The toxicity towards this game is no better than the toxicity aimed at TLOU2. Both scenarios involve an opposition that believes their own lies about the situation and become utterly rabid.

JK Rowling said that sex matters before gender and became hounded by toxic people calling her a transphobe because she didn't adhere to their given doctrine. She had plenty of support for transwomen (probably doesn't any longer) but because she didn't say the right things, she's hounded by this issue and become "the face of transphobia" and accused of causing actual violence. The fact of the matter is she's said relatively little about it and most of the lore around this has been interred or plain made up.

I have absolutely no interest in Harry Potter, it was a little after my time as a kid. I already regret writing this comment because I can tell it's going to get toxic replies calling me all the names under the sun. I have absolutely no interest in denying transgender people their rights, but I also agree the approach to these issues require nuances.

I'm a left wing, liberal guy. I fully support trans rights as human rights, but the "far left" are utterly incapable of being grown ups about it, as we've seen with JK Rowling and, more recently, this game.
