The excellent-looking JRPG Sea of Stars has finally gotten a release date, with the retro roleplaying game coming to PS5 and PS4 on 29th August.
Inspired by Chrono Trigger, with a snappy combat system and a soundtrack composed by the inimitable Yatsunori Mitsuda, Sea of Stars has all the makings of a modern roleplaying classic. We will be counting down the days until this one arrives.
What do you think of Sea of Stars? Does it make you nostalgic for the glory days of the JRPG? Wax poetic in the comments section below.

Really looking forward to this one! The Messenger was amazing, same devs, with a love letter to 90s JRPGs. Add in Chrono Trigger composer Mitsuda and it has the potential to be very special
Backed this game on Kickstarter (both on PS5 and Switch), I can't wait!
By the way, there will be a livestream this Friday at 4pm EST, where Sabotage Studios will play through the demo and answers questions!
Currently playing Chained Echos and loving it. This looks similar/more of the same so count me in
Awesome, I thought the trailer looked very cool
It got my atention too. Very nice and compelling.
Top 5 most anticipated for this year, cannot wait!
N.i.c.e. sea of stars does looks like a cool retro rpg.definetly getting this game on my ps4 pro.word up son
Great date. Been excited for this one since it's initial reveal. Only worry was it would come out around the same time as ff16
I'm hoping this isn't too on the nose with referencing JRPGs of the era it's influenced by. I started Chained Echoes, and while I was enjoying the gameplay, the game straight copied some set pieces and had too many wink/nod moments to CT for my liking. Locations that looked like Magus' Castle Boss Fight or Zenan Bridge. Just give me something original and new to experience.
I backed it on Kickstarter, so I sure hope it's good. It's looks and sounds fantastic. But like others have said, the Messenger was really good, so I am interested to see them try their hand at something else.

Excellent Mr. SuperSilverback, I came here to say exactly the same thing. Chained Echos is awesome! This year with getting to play Chained Echos, Octopath Traveler 2, and Sea of Stars...2023 is a wonderful year for someone like me who loves this type of gaming.
Day 1 purchase for me
