Grim Guardians: Demon Purge is a 2D sidescrolling Metroidvania title we have had our eye on for a little while now, one that has been re-piquing our interest with every new snippet of gameplay. Today we got a release date announcement; the demon-slaying Kamizono slayers bring their crusade against the darkness to PS5 and PS4 on 23rd February.
Players can switch between the gun-toting Shinobu and the more melee-focused Maya with the push of a button, allowing for adaptation on the fly, or can play as either with a friend in local co-op. With killer pixel art and what looks to be fast and demanding platforming action, there is a lot to like on display here.
What do you think of Grim Guardians: Demon Purge? Will you be carving out some time for this smaller title in a month packed with high-profile releases? Let us know in the comments section below.

‘Metroidvania’: Tired
‘CO-OP Metroidvania’: INSPIRED
For legal purposes this is a joke but it is nice to see something that shakes up the formula a bit more than the usual fare. Love a good local multiplayer campaign!
I’m tempted with this one. Really tempted, but February is already so stacked.
Definitely excited to see more of this one. It's interesting to see them utilize Gal*Gun: Double Peace's cast in such an explicitly gothic setting.
