Bandai Namco has released another Tekken 8 gameplay trailer, this time for eternally moody lead Jin Kazama. Once again, we're treated to some gorgeous visual effects as Jin beats the snot out of his evil dad, Kazuya, and shows off a range of new moves.
As has been the case with all of the character trailers so far, we're seeing a mix of old fighting styles and fresh gameplay mechanics. Existing Tekken players will recognise a handful of Jin's attacks here, but he's clearly got new combo strings, with the Heat system opening up additional routes and techniques mid-flow.
Tekken 8 continues to look absolutely mad, but do you think it'll all come together? Don't give in to the devil gene in the comments section below.

Another badass character. Game looks great.
Even after trying some Tekken 7 last weekend, I can't help associating Jin and Heihachi with Namco x Capcom/Project X Zone first and foremost. Is that how some people feel about Fire Emblem?😅
Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6 and maybe MK12, damn fighting fans are eating well this year.
I could never get in to Tekken. Too many moves and combos to remember. SF will get my money id imagine. This looks amazing tho.
@WallyWest With the possibility of Project L and a new Virtua Fighter within the next 18 months too.
It looks really, really amazing! I am starting to be over the “dark/edgy” vibe the series seems to be going for. It’s personal taste, of course, but I think Tekken is at its peak when it’s colorful and arcade like SF and VF.
Give us a release date, you cowards!
@Feena Tekken 2 was hardly colourful and it even had you fight characters called Devil and Angel with dark dramatic music played over the fights. In fact Tekken has always had that edgy 90's/early 2000's over serious feel to it.
@WallyWest yes I guess you are right but the early 3D graphic kinda made it feel more corny than edgy, to me at least. And in general the game has also this very playful vibe with characters like Roger, Panda, Sebastian etc that I really really like.
I am not into characters like devil Kazuya or Evil Ryu, Akuma etc.
tekken8, sf6, mk12? Glad I've got callus's, it's gonna be a smashing year.
That finisher was just chefs kiss
@WallyWest Except for Paul's rivalry with a grizzly bear, that just so happens to be Heihachi's personal bodyguard, whom he once (non-canonically) blasted into space on a giant rocket, along with 2 generations of his own family. And why does he even need a bodyguard?! The dude literally has electricity charging through his hands and can punch through robots...
Jin's moveset looks a bit reminiscent of Lars', with all the flips and somersaults. And whatever happened to Lars? Wasn't he pegged to be like a new protagonist in a past title? Seems he's been swept under the rug since! All very Final Fantasy with that 1 wing, too!
@Mattock1987 I suspect they'll be releasing this either Late 2023, or sometime in 2024.
Bandai Namco won't want to compete with the other heavy hitters already confirmed for 2023.
@KidBoruto I wish you weren’t right about that
@Mattock1987 I'm not a fan of fighting games really, so makes little difference to me personally when this finally drops.
I do hope for fans like you that the wait won't be long though
@KidBoruto thanks, nice to have a positive interaction online
