If you though awards season was over, think again. BAFTA Games is back, reflecting on 2022's software lineup in its list of nominees. The biggest story here is that God of War Ragnarok, Santa Monica Studio's grand sequel, has been nominated for the most awards in the award ceremony's history. Including six nods for individual performances, the game has been recognised with a total of 15 nominations.
Ragnarok is up for every category it qualifies for, including Animation, Game Design, Music, Best Game, and the EE Game of the Year award. Actors receiving a nomination for their leading or support roles are Christopher Judge (Kratos), Sunny Suljic (Atreus), Adam J. Harrington (Sindri), Danielle Bisutti (Freya), Laya Deleon Hayes (Angrboda), and Ryan Hurst (Thor). Phew!
It's not the only Sony first-party game nominated, though. Horizon Forbidden West gets six nods, while The Last of Us: Part I and Dreams each earn one nomination each (Technical Achievement and Evolving Game respectively).
Other highly nominated titles include Stray, Elden Ring, Immortality, and Vampire Survivors — the latter two aren't on PlayStation, but hopefully make the leap sooner or later.
The awards ceremony itself is scheduled to take place on 30th March and, if you're interested, you will be able to watch along via Twitch. See the full list of nominations below, and tell us what you think in the comments.

Danielle Bisutti. That is all.
Fully deserved, my favourite first party blockbuster ever… probably my favourite sequel ever too. Just absolute quality from pillar to post.
Why is Stray a candidate for game of the year? It was a nice concept, I played it for a couple of hours until the novelty wore off and will never return. It's tokenism that its there. Vampire Survivors should take its place all day long.
Would be nice for Stray to win a couple.
I hope Horizon wins something too.
@Atreus97 To be honest any of them from GoW are worthy of best performance but yeah she was amazing as Freya.
@riceNpea I'm thinking the same thing. Also I hate cats so to hell with Stray. Gets a 1/10 from me by having one as the protagonist.
@Atreus97 You've grown BOY!
Just passed the point of no return in the story, and I can say that so long as they don't completely fluff the ending, this game deserves every one of those awards. Great stuff!
N.i.c.e.God of war ragnarok is the best game ever made.kratos the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑.word up son
British Game?
A couple observations after glancing at the list — Stray for narrative? I haven’t played it yet, but I’m a little surprised. Also, GoW almost swept the supporting role category.
And I looked into that game Immortality since it had several nods and I’m a little surprised that an FMV game would garner such praise. Has anyone here played it to
report about what makes it special?
It's nice to see Horizon at least get recognized by something, although it looks like they just got a list of PS exclusives and pasted it into every category. UK is really obsessed with PS, isn't it? Stray is half the categories lol. I do think it deserves art design though. That Kowloon design is memorable.
@Stevemalkpus given it's the British Academy, they have an award category specifically to showcase stuff from British studios, which given how much of the market is dominated by American studios seems fine?
I’m just wondering when they stop idealizing this game. It looks cool, very good in general, but quite boring and gets you only for one play through.
@Soulless666 I feel kind of the same. I haven't played ragnarok yet but it's the same cycle as 2018. I like the game, it's a nice game.....but I will never, ever understand the insane level of hype it gets. It's treated like a cornerstone in gaming history, and to me, it's a game I'll play because it's a decent game and I have the console....I'd never buy a console because the game is only on it though.
