Update: It looks like the scale of the leaks were simply too large for LEGO to ignore, and it’s effectively confirmed that 2K Sports’ arcade kart racer LEGO 2K Drive will be officially revealed later this week. You can look forward to a trailer debuting on 23rd March. In the meantime, this skit poking fun at all the leaks is pretty amusing.
Original Article: We don’t get access to the Mario Kart games on PlayStation, but in our humble opinion Sumo Digital’s excellent Sonic & All-Star Racing Transformed is the closest a rival has come to Nintendo’s seminal series. LEGO 2K Drive, a release which appears to have leaked over the weekend, looks to be building on the same kind of energy.
Despite being billed as open world, screenshots – which we won’t republish here for obvious reasons – show multifaceted races, where you’ll be commandeering cars, boats, and planes – all built out of LEGO, of course. There are a number of different themes glimpsed in the images, including a swamp, a freeway, and a haunted house. It all looks rather pleasant, to be honest.
The game is poised to be one of several LEGO-themed sports games from 2K Sports, with a soccer release also purportedly in production. It’s all part of a major shakeup from the Danish brick manufacturer, which will see it expand its portfolio beyond its obligatory licensed tie-ins like LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Harry Potter. (Although another of the latter is allegedly on the way, too.)
To be honest, the selection of arcade racers available on PS5 and PS4 these days is pretty pitiful, so we’re certainly open to the potential of this LEGO-inspired racer. With Disney Speedstorm also imminent, perhaps the future is looking a little brighter on this front – all we need now is for Sony to greenlight another ModNation Racers, and we’ll be set for the generation.

“where you’ll be commandeering cars, boats, and planes”
Sounds like the Nintendo Labo vehicle kit has some competition.😂
The LEGO Speed Champions expansion for Forza Horizon 4 was great fun!
@get2sammyb TBH, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (still stuck on the PS3 - WHY?) is better than Mario Kart - it just is!
And Sony, for the love of all that is holy, reboot ModNation racers! United Front may be gone but I suspect San Diego Studio have the source code!!!!
This Lego racer could be very good - it looks like a decent stab - hopefully it'll play as well as the blue hedgehog racers.
I still play Sonic Racing Transformed to this day; it plays like a dream on PC.
It should be noted that Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled is arguably the best cart racer available, which is why it's such a shame that Activision won't greenlight a 60fps patch for current gen (not to mention the same neglect for the Spyro and N. Sane Trilogies). This is one area where publishers should take a cue from Ubisoft.
LEGO Racers was elite on PS1.
CTR Nitro Fuelled is the best kart racer
I wish the same team who make Hot wheels do this game but no
Well it's LEGO so this will either be absolutely stellar or a hastily thrown together cash grab.
Hopefully they've been working on another adaptation of a well loved IP or another Lego City as well, as I'm not personally interested in this.
Rocket League should get a Lego car model. That would be 😎.
This has the potential to be great or a non stop cash grab of micro transactions of new parts to buy. Buy and mix parts from Starwars to Marvel/DC to create the ultimate vehicle. Not to mention trademark character figurines. Want the Mandalorian in Tim Burton's Batmobile? Sure but it'll cost ya.
To say I’m excited for this is a huge understatement lmao, finally a new Lego racing game
Love the response to the leak, classy Looking forward to some reviews.
Really really hoping this isn't riddled with cashgrab tactics, but it's 2K so my expectations are low.
