The Last of Us is not a first-person shooter – but what if it was? We’re sure PC mods will give us a better idea one day in the not too distant future, but Twitter user Ceraphyte has used Photo Mode to sneak us an early glimpse. Basically, these screenshots show the survival horror game from the perspective of a traditional FPS, and we reckon it looks pretty great.
Naughty Dog vice president Neil Druckmann has confirmed the developer did toy with the perspective during development, but ultimately it decided on its tried-and-trusted over-the-shoulder view. Considering how good the Californian developer is at character animation, we can’t imagine it’ll adopt a first-person viewpoint any time soon – it would be interesting, though, wouldn’t it?
Would you play a first-person The Last of Us game? (403 votes)
- Yes, I'd be there day one
- Maybe, I'm not against it
- No, keep it third-person

I’d definitely play through this for the 4th time just to experience it from a new perspective. Being playable on PSVR2 would be even more enticing.
Defo there for day one, in VR doubtful otherwise.
Seriously this game would be great in VR and for that reason Sony won't do it.
@MaccaMUFC You can probably play TLOU in VR right now with the help of Vorpx. And there is a small chance that modders will make the experience even more awesome just like they did with Alien Isolation
Part of me was hoping that one of the reasons why TLOU was remade was so it can be played on PSVR2.
@AdamNovice I wouldn't be surprised if they had something like that in mind.
Thinking of the hotel basement sequence in the first game. Something like that would be amazing.
It would be pretty cool to see this become a reality. I might even finally be tempted to pick up the PS5 remake if they did this. Maybe for Part 3.
disgusting. no. never.
Day one and i am still hoping the multiplayer game they are going to hopefully shown in June is an awesome game. Love the Series but i am a multiplayer gamer at my core. I love a good single player game as well but if Naughty Dog nails a great multiplayer Last of Us, i will be on that game for a long long time.
By all means make a first-person game - just don't restrict its audience by making it VR-only, as they've done with Horizon.
