The upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake on PS5 will have its distractingly intense weather effects dialled back in response to fan feedback. The unfortunate design choice was first noticed in a recent Game Informer gameplay video.
Speaking to Press Start Australia, Resident Evil 4 producer Hirabayashi Yoshiaki acknowledged fans' concerns, stating, "We’ve seen everyone’s reaction to the rain effects, and we are working on a day-one patch to make adjustments."
In other Resi 4 news, the anticipated remake will feature prominently during Capcom's Spotlight stream, which takes place today with the main show starting at 2:30 PM PT. In addition, a mysterious ARG website related to the game, called "Baby Eagle is Missing", recently surfaced online.
Are you glad Capcom is doing the essential work fixing Resident Evil 4's out-of-control weather effects in the crucial weeks ahead of launch? Come in out of the rain and dry off in the comments section below.

Puddlegate 2.0 🤣
I mean the rain effects weren't that bad
Don’t see the big deal.
I think its all right it really set the mood.
Capcom are such a bloody gem. Fancy listening to feedback before game even released and rolling it into the first update. Love that.
The day one patch. Gaming in 2023. Great to see Capcom really takes the feedback to heart. They are really fantastic and their games are full of quality these days.
The gameplay footage was provided by Capcom. So essentially it’s fan feedback on a game that the fans have not themselves played.
Capcom are the best developers out there.
Demo later today?

I thought the rain was pretty well done myself. Many games go with a slight drizzle, but this went with a full on storm and suited the setting brilliantly.
Maybe give us an option to adjust it? Fans have too much power these days.
Thank GOD: Capcom heard my prayers. That rain was downright awful, I mean, it was BRIGHT WHITE, even in the dark.
Good, because in the mentioned video there was too much rain in some instances, for example between 04:09-04:22. It gets very distracting especially over a dark environement.
The main issues with this rain is the number of drops and their color...
In their current state, the raindrops are just too bright and opaque, and because there are a ton of them, it puts a lot of strain on the eyes for no important reason. Like watching a chanel on TV that has bad reception and a lot of static.
If they can make them a little more transparent and as a consequence more grey-ish or at least reduce their number (like it's shown at 04:23-04:30) it would be much better.
Dunno how I feel about this , I'd like to play capcoms original vision , can't wait for the demo tonight I hope it's not one that you can only play once 🤓
Cool.resident evil 4 remake is gonna be amazing.just like the original.word up son
@Nepp67 Yes. The rain was that bad.
@playstation1995 Tell me you got your PSVR2.
The only problem I have with these remakes, is that I already beat the originals and have no interest to do them again.
@SirRealDeal not yet.but i might try it.too many games for pss5 and ps4.my backlog of games is huge.word up son
I can stand the rain
@Nepp67 My main issue with the rain is that it is attached to the camera, not the game world.
Which means the rain moves with the camera, like an overlay, and it is very distracting and unrealistic in that sense.
Not only that, it seems to react very poorly to lighting and shadow, appearing almost too bright compared to rest of the ambient.
@GamingFan4Lyf Too much water, 6/10 from IGN.

@Phelaidar Understandable, it did genuinely look like it was a filter over the screen.
