Resident Evil 4 PS5 PlayStation 5 Flickering Lights Bug Patch Fix 1

Capcom’s latest remake is superb, as we outlined in our Resident Evil 4 PS5 review. It’s not without its issues, however: the Japanese publisher has already promised to address the game’s rain, and following yesterday’s launch day, it’s been made aware of an issue pertaining to flickering lights at the bottom of the screen.

“We're aware of an issue where players may experience flickering lights at the bottom of the screen when playing the PS5 version of Resident Evil 4,” a spokesperson said on the series’ official Twitter page. “We intend to fix the issue in a future update and apologise for any inconvenience!”

In the meantime, the publisher’s cooked up some temporary fixes, which may help you to eradicate the issue while it readies a proper patch:

  1. Try restarting your game and see if the issue has been resolved. (We’d go all the way and reboot your PS5 entirely, to be honest.)
  2. Set the Depth of Field in the Display settings tab to ‘Off’.
  3. Set the Motion Blur in the Camera settings tab to ‘On’.

Obviously, it sounds like a proper patch will need to be issued here, so if these don’t solve your issues, then you’re probably going to have to sit tight for the time being. If you’re suffering from this flickering lights issue, however, the above steps are worth a try. And remember, if you’re having any other difficulties with the game, our Resident Evil 4 Remake guide may be able to help!
