Capcom’s latest remake is superb, as we outlined in our Resident Evil 4 PS5 review. It’s not without its issues, however: the Japanese publisher has already promised to address the game’s rain, and following yesterday’s launch day, it’s been made aware of an issue pertaining to flickering lights at the bottom of the screen.
“We're aware of an issue where players may experience flickering lights at the bottom of the screen when playing the PS5 version of Resident Evil 4,” a spokesperson said on the series’ official Twitter page. “We intend to fix the issue in a future update and apologise for any inconvenience!”
In the meantime, the publisher’s cooked up some temporary fixes, which may help you to eradicate the issue while it readies a proper patch:
- Try restarting your game and see if the issue has been resolved. (We’d go all the way and reboot your PS5 entirely, to be honest.)
- Set the Depth of Field in the Display settings tab to ‘Off’.
- Set the Motion Blur in the Camera settings tab to ‘On’.
Obviously, it sounds like a proper patch will need to be issued here, so if these don’t solve your issues, then you’re probably going to have to sit tight for the time being. If you’re suffering from this flickering lights issue, however, the above steps are worth a try. And remember, if you’re having any other difficulties with the game, our Resident Evil 4 Remake guide may be able to help!

Haven't played it yet. First impressions needs a soberhead first ha. Plenty hot cups of tea and a hearty oven meal is doing its magic
I didn't notice any of that, and I'm on my second playthrough. I have all the post processing effects off though.
Capcom made one of my favorite games even better. The bosses especially are head and shoulders better than any RE game, especially the ol Major. Holyyyyyy, that goes up there with Old Snake vs Liquid Ocelot for me. That was amazing, and I'm looking forward to that as much as I am looking forward to shooting the final boss with a rocket at the start of the fight because that fight still sucks.
@LukeOS94 I had this, I couldn't download it from the PS5 library or store or the App, eventually by chance I tried the PS store website and was able to download it
No, but i turned off depth of view with chromatic aberration as it was f'ing gross!
I have yet to have this problem
I've noticed this but my ***** keeps thinking it's loot on the ground to pick up.
Glad I waited on this. Hopefully they get this fixed and all the other visual issues that seem to be significantly worse on the Ps5. Not to Mention very bad framerates across all consoles with anything but framerate mode enabled and nothing else (which still can't maintain 60fps). I really hope they also address the controller sensitivity configuration problems (which is bad on the Ps5 and really bad on the boxes). This issue alone in the demo took me from a day one buyer to waiting indefinitely until I see that addressed.
Cross Gen game too. Can't imagine how downgraded visually this must be on last Gen consoles.
glad these issues are on ps5 so that people don't blame sony again for paying for the better version
I can't wait to get this game but still can't wait until we can really see what a current gen RE could look like. I'm sick of PS4/Xbox One concessions being made.
@Bigtuna515 haha exactly the same here..lol. I experienced it 2-3 times and turned around to check if there's anything to pick up:)
@KundaliniRising333 This is why I usually wait at least a few months before buying, so they can patch out good amount of the problems.
@KidBoruto agreed absolutely. Especially that now many of the conveniently released post launch tech analysis show that much of the concerns I felt were evident in the demo turned out to exist and also represent an issue needing immediate attention. Also conveniently missing as a factor of review in the perfect scores.....
It is at least reassuring that paid for this game are voicing a more clear truth about the issues and thus user scores across the board are more in line with what a decent game released unpolished and with significant technical flaws: a 7
Despite the fact that this cross Gen title runs poorly and on current Gen looks worst on Ps5, my biggest barrier to entry is the several hundred ms lag like movement that is felt by the poorly calibrated controller look speed/dead zone. An issue that was nonexistent on the other remakes.
Definitely waiting on this one, however Capcom doesn't have the best track record on post launch technical fixes. Hopefully it's addressed, but yah definitely a wait and see for me in this one and at the very least pickup a discounted complete edition with the inevitable price reduction next year.
@KundaliniRising333 I'll be picking up the RE4 Remake in a few years, waiting for that sweet $20 price point.
