The Caligula Effect: Overdose is something of a reimagining of the first entry in the Caligula Effect series, with additional story sections, endings and gameplay mechanics. Originally released in Japan on PS4, it's finally coming West with a PS5 iteration on 30th May.
It follows a group of plucky high schoolers as they attempt to escape the pristine virtual world of Mobius, shattering its facade in order to reach the real one. Why is it always teens that end up having to save the day?

Is there a free upgrade for those who have the ps4 version?
Japan’s obsession with high schoolers is interesting. I think it’s a yearning for better days. Adulthood, with all the work and pressure that comes with it, just doesn’t seem as appealing as the freedom one envisaged in youth. Back then you could be anything, anything could happen, but as an adult you know that’s not the case. We’re on our train tracks but we wish we could still believe we could be on any. High schoolers are stem cells to the adult mindset.
I guess this is why they're removing the game from Extra next month. Classy...
This was on PS4?
I had the Switch version and I know it was before available on PS Vita.
I was a bit underwhelmed with the game on Switch. While I liked the art style, the beginning hours fastly went very repetitive.
And at some point, the fights were so hard that I lost interest pretty fast.
But the PS5 version definitely looks more detailed.
