Yeah, the tagline's from a totally different movie, but it's still horror-themed, at least. It works.
Anyway, publisher Gun Interactive has announced a release date for its upcoming asymmetric multiplayer horror game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Based on the film of the same name, this cat-and-mouse title is heading to PS5 and PS4 this summer, on 18th August — a date that may be familiar to fans.
For those who don't know, this game is similar in style to the likes of Dead by Daylight or Friday the 13th: The Game. One team plays as the infamous family of murderers (including Leatherface himself) and are tasked with killing their victims before they can escape. The other team plays as those victims, aiming to survive by getting away from their captors. Interestingly, the game takes place before the events of the film, with a different group of victims.
A technical test has also been announced, though this is only for PC players. If you're planning to play on PS5 or PS4, you'll need to wait until August for the full launch. Are you excited to play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre? Go hell for leather in the comments section below.

“ asymmetric multiplayer horror game”
Wasn’t this already released? Aptly, they all tend to bleed into one another.
Would be interested in a single player survival horror based on this IP. Multiplayer repetitive sandbox, not at all.
Me and group of friends loved Friday 13th few years back this this looks very similar so will def pick up. Hopefully it won't have the licence dispute that Friday 13th game had.
Why does every game based on a horror franchise has to be a like Dead By Daylight? We already have Friday the 13th & Evil Dead and Freddy Kruger & Michael Myers are in DBD. How about an actual horror like Outlast or Alien: Isolation with these franchises?
@thefourfoldroot1 Most recent one was Evil Dead
I knew it was going to be online MP 😑 what a waste, we need some cool horror themed games on current platforms!
Man, complain complain complain. I’m super thankful that a TCM game of any kind is getting released. There’s been a grand total of one and it came out on Atari 40 years ago.
@HistoricKombat F13 is dead though, and DBD is garbage so it needs competiton. i do agree about outlast though , its a shame its in the state its in right now, its arguably the best horror franchise to date & now its just stuck in development hell with some weird spin-off im trying to force myself to like
@nomither6
More the reason not to make another DBD clone. Last Year has also been shut down two years after launching on Steam...though, it was also dumb to launch as a Discord exclusive initially. Friday the 13th dedicated servers were shut down due licensing disagreements. Capcom also release their own PVP game with negative reception and went right back to licensing Resident Evil to bEHAVIOUR for DBD. These horror PVP games don't usually work out in the end. DBD is so far the most successful no matter if you don't like it. I forgot Outlast is trying same which is bummer. I guess these developer or publishers look at Dead By Daylight's success but do not look at other attempts from other devs.
@huyi all things "THE EVIL WITHIN" if Shin makes another game im all on it. Im kind of getting burned out on RESIDENT EVIL and these multiplayer horror games... (yawn)
@jrt87 @Dloki @HistoricKombat Same exact thoughts here, we need less multiplayer horror and more narrative driven single player horror games with strong stories.
