Tintin Reporter - Cigars of the Pharoah was teased a while back now, and we finally got a look at the rambling adventure in a new trailer, which is due out on PS5 and PS4 in 2023.
After a chance meeting with a famous Egyptologist, Professor Sarcophagus, Tintin (and his faithful companion Snowy) set off in search of the long-lost tomb of Pharoah Kih-Oskh. It looks like things might not go as smoothly as planned, with the endeavour escalating into a rollicking adventure of epic proportions.

Hard to say how this will turn out. Microids games can be hit or miss.
Love me some Tintin. Hope itβs worth checking out!
@LimitedPower Yeah, I love Tintin too, so hopefully it's going to be great!
The gameplay looks sorta Uncharted-ish.
There have been surprisingly few Tintin games over the years despite how popular the series is!
I'm still waiting for the CGI sequel film by Peter Jackson.
It's still in pre-development, and it was apparently on hold because Peter Jackson was making The Hobbit Trilogy at the time.
I would've preferred a Tintin sequel over The Hobbit Trilogy, or even Peter Jackson returning for The Rings of Power (which ultimately never happened).
The best looking,& rare Tintin adventures I'd seen on the internet/YouTube was I think a couple of Infogrames EU territories only efforts on Megadrive & Snes, think it was Seven Crystal Balls & Prisoners of the Sun? Visually looked the goods, but apparently rock hard even by 16bit platform action game standards! Possiblely MD had both games but Snes only got one.π€
Given the book its based off, likely no Captain Haddock,as he didn't appear til Crab with the Golden Claws,I think?
@Robocod I have some of the Inforgames games from back then. All of their comic book games were fan. They made two Tintin games. The first, Tintin in Tibet, was released in Mega Drive, Game Gear, SNES and Game Boy and was also ported to the Game Boy Color. The second, based on the comics you mentioned, was called Tintin Prisoners of the Sun and was released in SNES, Game Boy and Game Boy Color. I love those games, I really like the comic book panes and challenging gameplay.
Also no Haddock or Tournesol in Cigars of the Pharoah, they were introduced way later.
This begs the question why the chose Cigars of the Pharoah. To be honest I am a huge Tintin fan and this comic was one of the worst, even though it does some interesting world building. This, and its sequel, The Blue Lotus tackle some more serious themes like drug smuggling, mental health, war etc. Also, they have been criticized for stereotypical portraits of non European characters.
@belmont Tintin in Tibet!!π² That's right,my bad! Never played them,so just going off watching some longplays! Recall a 3d driving bit with Captain Haddock in Prisoners of the Sun?π€
Loved Tintin in Tibet with Captain losing most of precious whiskey supplies until the Yeti pinched the last bottle on him!!π As always like spraying himself with bug spray, battling sticky plaster, claiming Cuthbert Calculus to be acting the goat, always waa his own worst enemy!!π
"But had a loyalty that would move mountains".
Yep,guess they wanted to keep things focused on Tintin with the Cigars scenario...fingers crossed they still manage a decent game.π€
@Robocod yes, there is a driving stage with Haddock's car in Prisoners of the Sun but only in the SNES version. In Game Boy it is replaced with a cutscene with digitized comic book panels.
Yeah, Haddocks' comic relief scenes are some of the best. My favourites are those with Madame Castafiore!
Tintin and the Magical Cursed Horse (or whatever it was called) on PS3 was actually rather good.
Honestly, I'd rather this be a movie sequel to the great release from what... more than a decade ago now?
Looks interesting.
I will keep my eyes on new Tintin game.
I like the look of it, thatβs about all I can say.
a welcome surprise if they can pull it off... but... i think tintin would lend itself well to an adventure game with narrative choices and branching paths... not an action game. but curious to see how this turns out being an old tintin fan (the cartoon in particular).
@Hydra_Spectre My only experience with TinTin is the CGI film, would I like the games?
@KidBoruto I think so.
