It really does seem like nothing will topple Hogwarts Legacy for the time being. The game hasn't budged at all from its position atop the UK's physical chart, and it continues to sell the vast majority of its boxed copies on PS5 (83 per cent to be precise). While some big new release will likely come along to kill its combo, we imagine Hogwarts will stick in the top 10 for the foreseeable.
On the other hand, we have Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, which debuted in eighth last week but has now dropped all the way down to 33rd. It's not unusual for game sales to fall away significantly after the initial burst, but that's quite the dip.
Aside from that, it's business as usual. FIFA 23 is in second place, God of War Ragnarok is holding steady in fifth, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 moves down to eighth. The evergreen Grand Theft Auto V has moved from 10th to sixth, fuelled predominantly by sales of the PS5 version.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 11th March 2023
- Hogwarts Legacy
- FIFA 23
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Metroid Prime Remastered
- God of War Ragnarok
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Wo Long more like So Long...
The most impressive part—imo—is how it’s maintaining its number 1 spot at full $70 price. I’m personally waiting for an inevitable sale cuz it doesn’t inherently seem like my type of game, but good for the devs nevertheless.
Its unfortunate that wo long has fallen so quickly, but when you launch on a subscription service and people talk about it being 'free' to play, its only logical that others might be wary of paying full price, im convinced thats a factor.
Im glad that hogwarts is doing so well. Maybe WB will see that chasing Mtx and live service models is not a replacement for making well executed games that are not blighted with issues.
The older buisness model can still rake in the cash....
@Greifchen So simple yet so good. 😂
Seems all roads lead to Hogsmeade
@Deoxyr1bose Hogwarts has been an absolutely colossal hit. I expected it to be big, but even I'm a little taken aback by just how big!
I have a theory, and I noticed someone else already noticing too. But none of those games are on a subscription service launch window wise. Wo long might have have cut off sales by being "free" elsewhere...
Developers... just sell your games.
Personally have no interest in it, but im glad for the devs that this boycott bs made absolutely no effect
I imagine that all the people who tried Wo Long on Gamepass and then trashed it because they found it too difficult didn’t help sales either. Well deserved for Hogwarts though.
@Cutmastavictory definitely has some effect, and a game like Wo long, it's hard until you are a few hours in, and in the gaming world now that's unacceptable need my action noooooeeew, and the market is flooded with games and RE4 coming in less than 2 weeks, some people gotta.make choices we ain't all rich and free 🤣
@Deoxyr1bose
There are many ways to combat this $70 price tag. Some people who work at stores can receive discounts and share with freinds and family. Others can trade in games towards it. There can be some family members who shared the price between them like my self. By me using these methods I just paid $30. You don’t really have to wait for sale. If you actually want it then you would find a way to buy it at a lower price. There’s always a way.
I mean did Wo Long have ANY marketing?
Didn’t even knew it existed until a few weeks ago…
And to think HL is doing these numbers without the last gen versions of PS4 and ONE atm and without a Switch version too. Crazy
Wo Long: And Thanks For All the Fish
SO happy to see Hogwarts Legacy still in first place. I finally got the plat yesterday and it was a solid game overall. Congrats to Avalanche for making it!
@KaijuKaiser they've had AAA games day one on + though
Shame about Wo Long as its fantastic and its also one of the easier Soulslike as well once you get past that tough as nails first boss.
@Dodoo
I think Xbox had marketing rights since gamepass release.
So Sony could only put out some trailers on youtube channel.
@Cherip-the-Ripper
Which ones?
Nice to see Metroid doing well. The series is on a real high right now what with the fantastic Dread, a great remaster in Prime and Fusion making its way on to the Switch last week. Hopefully we hear more about Prime 4 this year.
@Deoxyr1bose look around online as you can find hogwarts for a lot less than the full asking price..unless you buy digital and then you have zero option until a sale.
@ChrisDeku i like it and i'm off for a pangalactic gargleblaster 👍
Re4 is going to Dethrone it
Hope it sells 50 million copies. Most fun I've had with a game in a long time. It just hits different. They nailed the setting and lore so well. I feel like a 5th year at hogwartz lol. Yes I'm tire of hearing about floo powder and there is this odd nasaly echo in the characters voice but damnit this game is fun. Chaining together different magic correctly can make you feel like a master wizard as a teenager. They basically treat you just like Harry.
83% of the boxed copies on PS5! Bonkers.
@Neverwild
Accurate. Xbox marketing for a game does not have the same effect as PlayStation marketing, especially since Microsoft is training their fans not to buy games.
I’d be interested to see the Hogwarts digital sales data, because if it follows the pattern of Elden Ring, despite 83% of physical being on PS, with digital taken into account it was closer to 50% on PS and XB, if I recall correctly.
But yes, this does highlight that game sales are adversely affected by being on a subscription service. I’d be interested to see what XB paid to have the rights to Wo Long on GamePass. Was it worth the loss of sales? Depending on the contract, it might have still been a decent deal for Team Ninja
@TheCollector316
True and that is why I think Xbox will soon be a publisher only.
Soon in this mean maybe this is last console for them.
Hogwarts and Miley at number 1. All seems right in the world 😁
I am going to be the one who asks the usual question...who the hell is still buying GTA v....everyone should own numerous copies by now
Also Wo Long is a great game really enjoying it on gamepass
@uptownsoul Thanks, that’s roughly what I remembered. A mostly even split. I had just forgotten about PC sales, so 30-30-30, although with PS4 added it was more like 40-30-30. Still, much more even than I expected and so I suspect Hogwarts is also more evenly sold when digital is taken into account
@StylesT
As what I understand people buy GTA 5 copies for shark cards? (think that is name for it).
Its cheaper to buy game for it then buying them for themself.
Think they doing it that way so they can say they are best sold game ever.
But people know that 100 million atleast are for that card.
@Konks Oh god that is burnt into my mind. Along with "Mine now demiguise". You also have the floo powder one and the should be proud of the potions you've brewed.
@KaijuKaiser yeah actually I think you're right. I remembered the Shadow Warriors 3 and Destruction Allstars launch and thought more might've joined but it's all just been high production indies, and I suppose it might be debatable whether those two are AAA.
Completely forgot I wanted to try that destruction allstars but it's probably dead by now 🤔
@Deformedpye I'm so glad they changed how often you hear those since the last patch.
Got a floo flame today and was surprised not to hear her say it for once.
@Neverwild ah ok didn’t realise that!
Hogwarts is my favourite game of the gen so far, it's fantastic.
@WallyWest definitely. I’m playing through prime again now and has made me want 4 even more! Loving the Metroid love atm…
Wo Long sales were ruined by the demo first I believe. The first boss is much more difficult to fight than following several ones. So that spooked all noobs and the game pass day one thing just made its last nail in the coffin. PS: the game itself is a masterpiece and just not for everyone.
@Neverwild As someone who games on all platforms (Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC), I'm sorry to say this but that is absolute horse twaddle. Xbox is owned by a 3 trillion dollar company, they sold the original Xbox and the 360 at a loss so why would they decide to be a publisher all of a sudden? The window for that has closed, if it was going to happen at all it would have been during the disaster that was the Xbox One generation.
@Acurisur
Since they are not focus on consoles but on a service.
So they will be a publisher so they can put gamepass everywhere.
@Neverwild Xbox has never been interested in being just a publisher, they're about choice. Consoles will still be a part of their plans going forward.
