It turns out that it takes pro wrestling to take down the mighty Hogwarts Legacy. Yes, Warner Bros' super popular RPG has finally had its reign at the top of the UK's physical chart brought to an end. WWE 2K23 has burst onto the scene, pinning down a number one debut. Just over half the copies sold were on PS5, with PS4 eating up another 23 per cent of the share.
So, Hogwarts Legacy is bumped down to second, but basically everything else in the top 10 is shifting down. FIFA 23 moves into third, God of War Ragnarok slips to sixth, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 holds its own in eighth.
Here's the latest physical top 10 in full.

Don't care for wrestling at all but that was a very nice title for this article good job š š
"PS4 eating up another 23 per cent of the share."
This is why we can't have nice things on PS5.
Unrelated to PlayStation, but Bayonetta Origins didnāt even make top 10. This is the first time a Nintendo exclusive havenāt done so in a hot minute.
@Deoxyr1bose It debuted at number 21, if you're interested!
The new WWE game looks great. They've turned things round from the total mess it was before. It's amazing what even a years break can do
@Deoxyr1bose Not surprised. Even my Bayo-loving friends IRL rejected it almost wholesale. The concept is bizarre and alienates the series already pretty meager fanbase, and the game looks like an indie that should have launched at half the price.
@Deoxyr1bose bayonetta is a niche franchise to begin with and it just had a release in the last five months. The game looks cool and has reviewed fairly wellā¦.
Iām used to seeing the permanent presence of Animal Crossing and Mario Kart in the top ten, but now Super Mario Odyssey also. Seems like everyone with a Switch would already have that. Cannot believe there are so many new players to the Switch ecosystem.
Not a surprise, anyone who was going to buy hogwarts has already, that and there are a tonne of mentally lacking wrestling fans who can spend their own money now and buy what mommy tells them is bad, lol, does anyone actually care? Sales lists are bought and sold, they don't mean shiz.
Hogwarts will be back to the top when PS4/Xbone copies are in the wild, Iām sure, and then again when the Switch copies come out. The game will probably be the monster seller this year.
@somnambulance I'd be shocked if a non streaming switch version is ever released
@DualWielding According to what we know at this point, itās supposed to be a physical version. People said the same thing about the Witcher 3. We donāt yet know the concessions the PS4 or Xbone versions will make to play the game either.
Nice to see Metroid Prime still doing well.
Seems like a little bit a cowboy magic to me.
Acknowledge The Tribal Chief Roman Reignsāšæ
Dominating in real life and virtually.
@Stevemalkpus Mario Kart especiallyā¦. I remember a few years ago, I thought it had peaked at 30 million and Nintendo could be selling x2 as many with a new release. I sure was wrongā¦.And Animal Crossingā¦. Sure, it had a decent following and I figured it would sell 15, maybe approach 20 million over its lifetime. I love seeing Nintendo doing well after it was left for dead ten years agoā¦..
@Splat the idea that the PS4 is holding the PS5 back in some way is pretty laughable tbh. What benefits exactly are you expecting from ditching the previous generation?
Not sure if you've noticed but most of the PS5 exclusive games really aren't noticably "better" than games that have both a PS4 and a PS5 version. Because the PS5 really doesn't have any "new" tricks (except for haptics, but the PS4 really isn't holding back PS5 versions from using that), it's just got faster storage and better processing capabilities. You're already getting the vast majority of the benefit that you're going to get out of this generation
BTW I own a PS5 (and never owned a PS4) so I'm not ragging on the PS5 here - I just think you've believed a little too much hype..
