Honkai: Star Rail, the turnbased RPG from juggernaut developer miHoYo, will launch next week on PC and smartphones – and there had been some hope the PS5 and PS4 versions would be ready as well. Despite not having a PlayStation release date right now, fans had noted that Genshin Impact found itself in a similar situation, and still launched on consoles day-and-date with its other platforms.
However, with pre-downloads now available for the game, there’s no sign of the release appearing in the PS Store, suggesting history isn’t going to repeat itself here. An eye-watering 10 million players have pre-registered their interest in the release, which is looking likely to be one of the biggest gacha games of the year.
To mark the occasion of the pre-downloads, the studio has deployed a new trailer, showcasing a character called Seele. It’s a pretty great trailer and it’s already racked up an impressive 250k views, once again underlining just how big this game is poised to be. Are you ready to board the Astral Express? Let’s hope we get an update on the PlayStation version next week.

I'm installed on my Pixel 7 Pro and the iPad already, but the EGS version on PC doesn't seem to be up yet. Since Star Rail is turn based, I honestly suspect I'll play it on my phone more than anywhere else, tho. Genshin on touch controls is fine, but some of the tougher domains and stuff are just abysmal with touch. I imagine a turn based game with touch controls will be great.
So do they release genshin on the switch first or Honkai Star Rail on playstation.
@Tamlyn I seriously doubt GI is ever going to materialize on the Switch. If they have any intention on supporting Nintendo going forward, it'd probably be smarter at this point to release GI on the successor close to launch.
@Tamlyn As much as I hate to say it, this thought crossed my mind. The Switch version of GI has vanished into the ether. It's AAA vaporware at this point. Lol
Already preloaded on my phone and PC. Can't wait to play the full release. Beta was absolutely amazing.
@Ralizah Same. I think they wanted to and planned to until they got down to real work. The loading time, not graphics, would kill the experience.
I thought GI was pretty good but I just didn't enjoy the combat. I'm curious about this as a turn-based RPGs. I might give it a shot once it hits PlayStation.
I'll play on my phone until PS5 version releases no biggie.
I’ll play this on the phone but the absolute second it gets on PS5 that’s the version I’m switching to on Frame 1 hahahahah.
Waiting for the PS5 version, though I'll prob never play it.
@Ralizah Definitely seems more of a Switch pro/Switch 2 release.
