Hori’s new Street Fighter 6 themed arcade stick is licensed by both Sony and Capcom, so you can be pretty confident this will suit your needs when the brawler releases in June. Compatible with the PS5, PS4, and PC, the Fighting Stick Alpha promises “tournament grade” quality, and can be opened up for easy customisation and maintenance.

“The Fighting Stick Alpha comes equipped with HORI’s legendary Hayabusa joystick, Hayabusa matte high-speed buttons, fully functional touchpad, tournament lock, and a 10ft cable, as well as on-board audio and mic controls to keep all focus on the fight,” the blurb reads. “Take your fighting game skills to the next level and create four custom profiles through the companion app. Easily switch between profiles on the fly using the Function Button. Officially licensed by Sony and Capcom.”
It goes without saying, but we’ll point this out anyway, while the arcade stick is themed around Street Fighter 6, it will work with other fighting games, like the upcoming Tekken 8 or existing Guilty Gear Strive. There’s no official release date just yet, but the controller will retail for $229.99, and can be pre-ordered on Amazon right now.

It's kinda pricy at $230
Shame it's the horii. IIRC Hori still isn't using Sanwa buttons, they have their own that imo aren't as good. Unfortunately Madkatz stopped making them and now Razer has too. A lot less options in this space than just 6 years ago.
@NEStalgia Yeah it's using "Hayabusa joystick, Hayabusa matte high-speed buttons". Not Sanwa.
@NEStalgia I think a lot of arcade stick enthusiasts prefer custom builds these days. For the price I would much rather get something custom made as well.
@NEStalgia Should i? I mean this is the style game i kind of need in my life. Always wanted to get back into the competitive fighting game scene. It’s pricey but would allow me to really dive into SF6, i might want to see if Xbox gets one as well, then decide. Tell me why i do or don’t need this HAHA
@get2sammyb Sanwa and Happ have always been the authentic arcade sticks/buttons of choice. I got both customs with those parts and a Hori with the Hayabusa parts, there is no comparison really. The Sanwa and Happ stuff feels arcade perfect (as it's basically arcade cabinet parts), while the Hayabusa stuff lacks the feel that you get with arcade cabinets.
@Green-Bandit dude nobody really plays fighting games on Xbox.
@get2sammyb Yeah....those are kind of in the "ok, I guess, if I have to" territory. The Hyabusa sticks are actually as nice as the Sanwa, but the buttons are many tiers below. I have a Horii around, same buttons and they're....eh...I guess. Not for this price, I really wish Horii would abandon their own mediocre buttons and use something better. They make really nice stick builds, but cripple them with their second rate buttons. I really have a hard time recommending anyone get a Horii if there's another choice.
@Jay What's the current sources for good custom stuff without breaking the bank these days? I still have my Razer (the X1 version with a PS4 adapter that definitely should still work on XSXS and probably works on PS5) so I'm good, but I like to keep my ears open for what else is out there.
@Green-Bandit You want one, but I don't know if you want THIS one. See the conversation about Hyabusa vs Sanwa buttons. We have the same tastes in controllers. You want Sanwa or Happ, I'd suggest Sanwa.....trust me
@4kgk2 Not really true. There was a time during the PS4 era that PS had a total lock on FG but times have changed. It's fairer to say "nobody really plays FG on console" than to single out XB, most of the serious FGC has moved to PC, as have the arcade cabs themselves. Both PS and XB have "reasonable" FGC these days.
@NEStalgia pc and ps are were most fighters are played the most these days. why do you think a lot fighting games skip Xbox all together. You guys want fighting games to be relevant on Xbox just like you guys want Jrpg’s to relevant on that sorry a$$ platform lol.
@4kgk2 I can't really think of major FGs skipping XB anymore other than some of the anime tied Arc games. Unless you're just going on an "I hate XB long live PS" console war rant?
@NEStalgia some snk games are skipping Xbox so its just not Arc games also vf5 remake skip xbox. I don’t want Xbox to die but the way but its dying PlayStation is back to outselling Xbox 3 to 1 again after the stock shortage ended.
@4kgk2 no one is playing any Unreal engine 5 games on Xbox or PS5 either, i kid i kid, i ain’t opposed to getting it for PS5 if they are the only ones with a stick, but i prefer all my 3rd party games in one place. The game should have cross platform servers, tho i didn’t check to confirm that. At this point an online 3rd party game should let all consoles play together. That just makes sense. I might look into it more as i have had a itch to get back into competitive fighting games, tho i am sure with how long i have been away i will have to take some lumps before i settle back in.
@NEStalgia @4kgk2 NO!!! Not 4kgk2, he wouldn’t go on a Xbox bad PS good rant. Excuse me for answering for you 4kgk2, what he meant to say NES was he is happy to see all gamers have choice with fighting games and they can play on cross platform servers with the console of their choice. Making the industry more diverse. Hope i was able to help you understand better NES as sometime 4kgk2 can be misunderstood.
@Green-Bandit game developers don’t eat off giving every platform a chance to play they’re games. especially if they put they’re games on a platform they know it’s not gonna sell on.
@NEStalgia a total lock? The only fg sony has paid for was SFV. All the other games that weren't on xbox were dev decisions. SNK skipping xbox was before the Saudi total acquisition so it's pretty obvious it was a lack of budget. The whole happy gamers thing it's cool and all but trying to trash sony in a passive way (yikes) every opportunity you have doesn't work either lol. I have read your comments for a while and I know you love to sound like you have the reason all the time (I mean just read your essay of a comment) but yeah ... you don't, sorry.
@4kgk2 i largely agree with that, certain games make sense on one platform over the other, but most AAA games these days are getting to as many platforms and devices as they can. Seeing much more sales and engagement that way. Reaching more players is always a good bet for dev’s, happy gamers are getting choice. Hence many players going PC only these days.
@Green-Bandit LOL IDK if it's to @4kgk2's credit or not but I didn't recognize them as a die hard console warrior by name.....but it sounds like there may be a history there I didn't notice.
@4kgk2 Which SNK games? VF5 remake is still a last gen thing, not really relating to the new breed of FG. Plus the original is still playable on XB while it was trapped on PS3 on PS, so it's a little different a scenario. But again, that's not a PS5, XSX era game, that's a PS4, X1 era game where we can all agree XB had no FGC.
@GymratAmarillo That's a complicated issue, but in the PS4 era FG was pretty much all PS4, and Sony very specifically targeted that market with the SF5 deal to strengthen that position. Targeting genres by targeting key games in the genre is a big part of Sony's market strategy. Always has been. Whether that's a good or bad thing is a topic for other threads, but that it is is just statement.
I'm not trashing Sony, that's just the reality of last gen. No need to get defensive. If you've read my comments for a while you also know I've had every PS device since PS2 (I didn't have a PS1 but have a large library of PS1 games I emulated at the time), I'm 200% in on PSVR2, the nay-sayers want to say I'm an apologist, and I'm also one of the few here that seem to have purchased an Edge controller (as is Green-Bandit, albiet on my recommendation.) There's a facet of the fandom that likes to think if you're critical of something you hate it, and if you like something competing against it you're "on the other side." Don't be one of those people! This is a thread about joysticks.
@NEStalgia I bet the split sales between ps5 and xbox for sf6 80% to 20%.
@NEStalgia i did buy a EDGE controller and i am on here all the time saying Sony controllers are far from my favorites.. well cause they are. In the time it took me to write that my edge lost 20% battery life, but i digress. HAHA
@4kgk2 Maybe. If Capcom doesn't want that 20% of their console revenue, I'll take it! But weren't we talking about Hyabusa buttons sucking and why Green-Bandit should spend a lot more than this custom building a Sanwa-based cabinet?
@Green-Bandit, Completely OT, but one pet peeve of mine is the batteries in the VR Sense controllers. I think to protect the battery service life it refuses to charge if it's not depleted a certain amount. Which sounds great. Except when I use it for maybe an hour, put it on the charger, it doesn't take a charge because it's above the threshold still, and then my next session it only runs for like 2.5 hours because I already used an hour the previous session and it didn't let me recharge it. Which would have been solved with bigger batteries.... IDK if Edge is doing that but I suspect it might be. I'm doing all VR currently, but GT7 still has me taking out the Edge regularly. Have to admit it's kinda awesome for GT7 though.
Luke’s face haunting us even in there. Jamie is fine, though 😁
@NEStalgia Battery life is not good from Sony in a long time. Not sure what the issue has been, but they need to adjust battery life in the next wave of accessories. It is an industry low.
@Green-Bandit I think recently the issue is cramming so much tech into the controller, there's both higher power draw than other controllers coupled with less room to put a battery resulting in terrible life. I used to think it was cost cutting, but edge is cost is no object, and they used a special smaller battery that's probably costing more due to lower volume production just because they ran out of room. The oversized replaceable modules ate up the battery area and they didn't want to increase the shell size.
Not saying it's a good design, just saying that's what went wrong
@NEStalgia something is wrong and even the Dual shock 4 was industry bad, and most said it was the light bar, which that was a large part of it for sure. But awful battery life. That’s why i don’t praise them for having a enteral battery, so a built in battery is preferred, but it’s not a pass for bad battery life. I was just playing side missions on GOWR a few minutes ago and my left thumb keep slipping off the stick, making it so uncomfortable to hold and play, as soon as i got to a save spot, i saved and quit cause my experience with the controller is bad. I wish it wasn’t bad for me, cause i do enjoy the PS5.
@Green-Bandit The light bar is a drain on ds4, even in ds5. But energizing the track pads takes power. In ds5 the haptic motors are a huge drain. They have enough power to resist you forcing against the motor, so that's a chunk of power right there, and the controllers last much longer in PS4 games then PS5 games that use all that. Though still not long enough.
But they have all those motors in there and the track pad, and in edge the modular stick housings and there's no room left for a battery. It needs a bump out but they won't compromise on that. It's infuriating. I like that they tried new features but not if it means compromising the basics. Like staying powered. The VR controllers have more room in them and have the same haptics and have to power the ir array on the rings. But teeny batteries....
My real take away from the thread is absolutely nobody cares about fight sticks here ... Kind of confirming my point that nobody plays FG on console, it's all gone PC lol. We had 1 person other than us and Sammy that cared about joysticks, a few people trying to start a console war and then us talking about other ps controller batteries.
RIP Hori SF6 PS sick. You were pretty. To bad your buttons suck and nobody wants to push them. 😆
Edit: the funny thing is the only 3 people on push actually taking about the actual stick are 3 people that will be buying this on PC or Xbox 😂
@NEStalgia agreed sony controllers has features above battery life in their R&D. But i mean most players seem fine with it. I would take less battery life over better layout and for them to get rid of the touchpad. But thats just me. Yeah most on here seem non thrilled about fighting sticks, i am still interested and would like to get one at some point, preferably for Xbox, but would be fine with PS as well. Trust me that guy loves a good Xbox bad PS good tussle. He don’t love my comments from time to time.
@Green-Bandit I just wish there were options. BYO Controller, or multiple offerings or something. There's a lot of people who love love loooove the DS designs and would go insane with any other design, so they can't change it, they hamstrung the Edge's battery partly because their sample group of eSports players they worked with didn't want anything changed about the DS5 shape. Crazy people but they exist So just make options? Or....seriously....just sell low tension stick modules for Edge. Why isn't that a thing yet? Every other pro controller lets you set you stick tension whether it's selectable (Elitev2) or you custom order it with the tension you choose (Scuf, etc.)
Yeah, it's kind of funny, people jump in to defend PS as the home of fighting games, and then this thread for a STREET FIGHTER 6 stick is more abandoned than threads on VR. Clearly NOT the home of fighting games at least on this site! Remember the hype for SF5? I recall a TON more enthusiasm on NL when Horii released a stick in 2017 for Switch. There were hundreds of comments!
It just makes it funnier that the ONLY people that actually care about sticks in this thread is a trio of players that want SF6 on console that "nobody plays FG on"
FWIW, you shouldn't (usually) need to buy 2 sticks. All of them are PC-compatible by default. My Atrox is the XB1 version, but I just bought a third party adapter, it's like $25-40 or something, that you can use it on PS4. All X1 accessories are XSX compatible, and I'm PREETY sure wired PS4 accessories are PS5 compatible, so if you get a stick for one or the other you should be able to get an adapter and use it for both, at least for this gen unless one of them changes controller protocols next gen.
The main difference is the ones made for PS will have a built in track pad for anything that requires that for input and XB ones won't. Otherwise they should basically be the same.
If you get no other options this one will do....they're not really bad. They're just not as good as Sanwa/Happ which are the real arcade parts rather than approximations. I'm too hard on the Horii, it's definitely a decent controller, it's just 85% rather than 100% there.
@NEStalgia that makes sense as I’ve never been huge into Horii myself. Yeah PS fan’s tend to speak the loudest cause Sony has the console sales, i let them tell me what they want to see how much of the industry they really know and 80% of them fall on their face, then blame us for being know it all’s. When all we do is try and buy and test and play and own more than one console. Plus read a lot from the real know it all’s. You know me, i don’t buy 3rd party games on PS, so if i really have to to play SF6, i might just pass on SF6 or find an option for another platform. Yeah i know most people love the dual sense. The shape isn’t bad, cause let’s be honest they borrowed from the Xbox design, it’s the size, stick placements and long pull in the triggers, i won’t rehash, you have heard this from me many times before. I wish they would do a slimmer model for smaller to medium size hands, i really wish they allowed you to bring your own. I would buy a ton of Xbox controllers and Sony would make way more money off me software wise. But we know that ain’t happening. Sony needs to just stop with the touch pad, it is wasted space on a controller for like less than 5% of all games made on the platform. Keep the haptics, ditch the speaker or not i could care less, but the track pad is a huge amount of wasted space. Us Edge users deserve tension tweaks as you’ve mentioned most if not all have that. Sony is said to be making more hardware and has a patent for a new controller design, i am sure that will be for PS6, but you never know as many have claimed the DS to be to big, how much is Sony listening? Time will tell.
@Green-Bandit SF6 is PS5, XSX, and PC, so we'll be fine buying wherever we want (Switch 2, lol?) And sticks...even this stick can be used on XB with adapter, but you can do better. Same with Tekken 8. I'm sure Horii will do an Xbox specific design as well, but it's still not the best arcade stick IMO.
Sony's trouble with the touch pad is they're kind of locked to it now because all their BC now depends on having it otherwise games don't work. Plus the FFXIV juggernaut. I still feel it's unplayable without the touch pad (now Square and XB have said it will jump to XB eventually, but dang, that UI, I don't think it's playable without keyb/mouse or the touchpad!)
I don't think Sony's changing the DS5 design any time soon, they designed the edge specifically to NOT change it even if it meant ruining battery life, because it's such a cherished (hah) design. If anything it's just a DS6 that looks much like a DS5.
@NEStalgia yeah next to no chance they change the Dual sense, which for me is like eh.. not like yall ever had a controller i preferred anyways. But i would love to see Sony and MS make two sizes for its controllers. Unlikely to ever happen, but would be the sweet spot for reaching all gamers. Touch pad is here to stay and i will never say anything good or useful for it. I disliked it on the PS4 and to a degree dislike it even more on the PS5. Wasted space. SF6 looks good, haven’t played much fighting games in a long time. But always loved them and occasionally got really good at them. I hope with all the fighting games coming out, we see more options for sticks as they are such an important part of the gameplay. Capcom is red hot with everything they box and sell at the moment, i see no reason this isn’t a huge game for them as well, at least within the genre of what sales do for fighting games.
