The release of the eagerly anticipated sequel Alan Wake II could be sooner than fans might think, if a potentially careless comment from the game's principal voice actor is anything to go by.

On an episode of the Monsters, Magic and Madness podcast (at about the 16:37 mark), Matthew Poretta, who voices the titular character of Alan Wake in the sequel, stated that it's "supposed to come out in October". The full exchange, for more context (thanks, Gematsu), went like this:

MMM Podcast: "One of my all-time favourite games is Alan Wake. So when it comes to your voice acting work, is that something that happened naturally through working, or is it something you made an effort to pursue?"

Mathew Poretta: "I’ve been working on it—that’s supposed to come out in October. We’re in the middle of working on it now. In fact, I was just in Finland last week. That’s where the company’s from—Remedy—amazing people."

Now, it's worth noting that we already knew developer Remedy was targeting a 2023 release date on PS5, but this latest comment has potentially narrowed things still further.

So there you have it, obviously not the official line from Remedy, but this would hardly be the first time a voice actor has prematurely spilt the beans on an upcoming release. Do you believe that Alan Wake 2 is coming out in October, perhaps around Halloween? Sounds good to us. Shine a light on the matter in the comments section below.
